Hats off to Eric Berry

You are correct. He played pretty good tonight. Hope he keeps improving and if Fulmer is still here next year he hires a better DB coach.

Give it time. The Fulmer/Chavis program will have him mediocre, on his heels, and a sucker for a trick play by the time he's a junior.

Why is he not returning kicks or punts? (not that we ever force anyone to punt). When he gets his hands on the ball things happen.

Berry would have had two picks if not for Hefney knocking the ball out of his hands.

I can't imagine what a leader on D he will be his junior and senior years. Hopefully UT playing all these young guys this year in the secondary will pay off the next couple of years.

Hopefully. But if the same staff is here it won't matter.

Yeah, Chavis is weak against a option team or a qb that can scramble. Saben's game play last week on offense was almost the same as the LSU seccg in 2001, use a scrambling qb and Chavis will take the bait everytime.

I don't know, he was pretty good last week scrambling around, maybe it was designed. I almost hate to see 3rd and 10 to 3rd and 15 on D, because I know that UT will blitz, almost get to the qb, the qb will barely miss the tackle, scramble around, throw the ball as he is hitting the ground or getting hit, and their player will may a great catch to get the first down, 90% of the time it goes something like that.

this thread should have never been started unless the title was: Hats off to Eric "The Legend" Berry. Now let's pray that Fulmer, Slade, and Chavis take a "hands-off" approach to coaching him in the future.

Not with this coaching staff in place, he's gotta have help, maybe his dad can coach him up

I kind of disagree, berry happened to be johnny on the spot a few times when the ball was fumbled or thrown badly. His coverage looked awful most of the night.

Berry is a big hitter and big play man at times. He will get better. Great natural ability, size, and speed.

Vinson also has the ability to develope into a lock-down type of corner over the next couple of seasons. He is certainly not going to get outran very much and he is also 6' 2".

The secondary will look much better next year.

Berry is without a doubt heads above anyone else on defense. I had to laugh, because the reason he was the man returning the fumble was he was the only one who had good enough hands to pick up the ball.

I have to agree,,,,Why in hades isn't he our return man????? :realmad:

Vinson and berry have the potential to be the best corners in the sec for years. Now if we could get rid of slade i would feel better about saying that.

Eric Berry will be an all-american and first round draft pick, hopefully Vinson can ride his coattails to an all-sec pick in a few yrs

So why havent we tried Berry on kick returns..
he made it look so simple after he picked up the fumble, and after he got the interception!
