Haslam And Manning Hold All The Votes For AD

Here are the six members on Tennessee's search committee for AD

And why can't you separate your head from your lower intestines?

BIG JIM THE FATHER IS NOT ON THE FREAKIN SEARCH COMMITTEE. JIM JUNIOR, THE OWNER OF THE STINKING BROWNS IS.

And though I think that the Browns poor performance is silly criteria for not trusting Haslam on a search committee, those stating it at least know damn well which one they are griping about.

He sure as hell shouldn't be. He's lucky he isn't under federal indictment. I spoke personally with someone brought in to deal with the Pilot mess and he said the lack of ethics and oversight in a company that size was mind boggling.
He shouldn't be anywhere near this search.

I'm not a fan of Phil as the AD, but I don't really have a legitimate reason why. I am a fan of Peyton. Not many that fit VFL like he does, IMO. If, for whatever reasons he wants Phil, I'll feel comfortable with it. Not like I have a choice anyway, and he knows more about everything UT football than I do.

The only thing we know from Peyton's history is that he will demand rigorous preparation, thoughtful process and a united decision. This will not be an emotional decision.

Um no. they still suck but a lot less than they did before...

Are you serious? They barely won 1 (ONE) game this season. His record is far worse than the previous ownership's.

Under Haslam ownership the Browns have gone 4-12, 7-9, 3-13, and finally 1-15 (worst in franchise history). Oh yeah he's definitely made them better.

I won't argue that, Roust. In fact, I am forced to agree. Under the circumstances, I don't care how much money his family has donated,or that his brother is governor, he doesn't need to be there. However,it was not the point I was arguing.

BUT, since he hasn't been indicted, our knucklehead administration doesn't have the backbone to be blunt about it.

I swear, UT had more of the dumbest smart people ever. They need a monument for it.

The Browns. An even bigger disaster than before he bought them.

You don't make billions by being dumb. It is impossible.I am neither a fan nor a hater of his but the man probably has more brains than any 5 people in this chat room put together.

If it's not an emotional decision, then there is zero chance it's fulmer. Emotion is the only thing driving it. Not logic or reason.

Haslam said in an interview during the draft he decided to select Manziel from the advice of a homeless guy who recognized him in Cleveland.

Therefore, he is doing more than just throwing cash around. And that may partially answer your question.

Now that I remember that, I agree with those questioning him on the search committee. Or I need to find out where he will be parking.

EDIT: Doubt?

Jimmy Haslam says homeless man convinced him to 'draft Manziel' - CBSSports.com

So, we should hire the homeless guy as AD.

Have you seen the Cleveland Browns??!!?? The dysfunction there is as bad as it is here.

You hit the nail on the head. The record is terrible, but it goes even beyond that. There is no evidence that anybody currently in that organization has a clue as to how to make it better.

Exactly! See any resemblance here?

Drafting Manziel was one example of how dumb the Browns are. He was a bad risk not only because he's shortish and wouldn't be able to run around like he did in college, but of course also because of his personal issues, and yet despite football concerns and personal issues, the Browns drafted him in the first round anyway. And he's out of football.

I'm assuming you missed the Trinity post. You do realize the Haslam in this thread title and the Haslem that was in your answer I quoted are 2 different people, right?

The Browns have a long history of ruining the careers of good college QBs. I know Manziel had personal issues but what about Tim Couch, Charlie Frye, Brady Quinn, Colt McCoy, and Brandon Weeded?

They've had 26 QBs since they reformed in 1999. You'd thing one or two of them would have stuck. That's not a problem with the players it's a problem with the organization.

The Browns problem has persisted over multiple ownerships. It's not just the current one.

That means he's a good business man. Doesn't mean he's good at running a football franchise. Just because you have smarts in one part of life doesn't make you the right person. How many brain surgeons would you let fix your car?
