Has Spurrier lost that edge?

Good thread...got a chuckle out of that...

personally i don't think he's lost anything...i agree with GAVol...the talent isn't there yet...but truthfully, i think he loves being the underdog for the first time in quite some time. If he ever gets SC to the point where they are capable of realistically competing for the SEC E on a regular basis, he'd love it. I think he'd love sticking it to UGA, TN, and especially FL. He did it at Duke. He did it at UF...if he does it at USC.....whew...that's one hell of a resume.

Spurrier is only in his second year here. He has said he wants to coach another 10 yrs. He can only beat UT and UF once a year. what do you want? oh and by the way NOBODY in Columbia fears THE GREAT PUMPKIN. phil fulmer.
Fear him they may not......but when it all comes down to it CPF has as many NC as the almighty CSS...plus Fulmer has one thing the head cock doesn't have and never will...a perfect season 13-0!

Has Spurrier lost somthing since being the coach of Florida? I do not fear him like I did when he was a Gator. I do respect him but what happened to that fun and gun that was so hard to stop? USC is the place where all great coaches go to end a career...

He lost talent. He did win the ACC at Duke before moving to Florida. He had almost no talent there.

Give the Evil Genius a little more time to recruit his players, including drop back passers, and he will be back to the top challenging for championships again. The state of South Carolina has produced plenty of great athletes, and he will get his share.

Spurrier is something else. I've seen a lot of coaches come and go here at SC - but my God, this guy is a competitor. I thought Lou was a great competitor. Spurrier makes Lou look like the Dali Lama. He doesn't just want to win, he wants to embarrass, humiliate and destroy. Really, I think there might be something wrong with him emotionally.

A few weeks ago, we totally shut down Kentucky's passing game except for a couple of long passes the last minute of play. He was so pissed off that during the post game conference he called the secondary coach in to answer reporters questions (with cameras rolling) about how we let Kentucky complete those last few passes. It was one of those things that makes you kind of turn away, so as to not see another man's humiliation.

After a tough loss to Auburn, USC fans cheered as our team left the field. The next day Spurrier chastised the fans for cheering to the "losers". He didn't understand why we would cheer "the same old South Carolina" that wasn't good enough to win.

These things are hard to swallow for some of us. In reality, this is exactly what our program needs. Someone to put us in our place and raise the standards. So, I don't think he's lost anything and I think he's getting the job done here. We're lucky to have him.

This saturday is monumental for SC. A win over a top 10 opponent, and to hand a defeat to the Vols for the second year in a row would be a program changing event. 'Gameday' is going to be here, and we'll have a ton of recruits on hand to witness. I can guarantee SOS brings his "A" game. Hopefully Phil will have his team ready to give us all a show.

I think VisorBoy knows how to push people's buttons and loves doing THAT almost as much as he loves the game.
He's a train wreck waiting to happen - I don't want to watch b/c I know he's going to make me mad, but I can't quit looking.
