Has Rick Barnes addressed the players or recruiting needs?

The inside presence will be Ado. The guy is solid on both ends of the court. He's 2016 and a guy I hope we go after is Mario Kegler. Dude can score with the best of them. Texas offered him and he was interested and now Barnes at UT and Tyndall had been in contact with him early on.

If I'm not mistaken didn't Kegler have an unofficial visit during a football weekend?

Yes, Kegler did visit

I've been trying to find information, but not having a ton of luck. Has Barnes talked to our current players and has he addressed any recruiting plans/needs?

As far as "need" goes, the Rocky Top Talk article cited in another thread says Barnes never recruits based on need. He tends to go for athletic and 100% effort. Just one guy's opinion of course, but the guy seemed pretty knowledgeable and he's watched Barnes a lot. (Personally, I can't imagine he NEVER considers need, so I translate this to "rarely".)

Sound familiar?

I FEEL THAT HE SHOULD MEET EACH PLAYER INDIVIDUALLY. Get familiar with their plans for the future as far as basketball and education. He need to have previously evaluated their potential level (skills and weight) and let them know what needs to be improved and how he will help them to get to their highest potential. If he does not feel the player is a good fit for what he wants, be honest and let them know. If he feels they fit his style of play, then (not promising any playing time) encourage them to work hard enough to see the floor. Assure them that they are welcomed to stay. I am sure he will do all of this I stated but I just hope that he is straight forward with these young men. I don't want them to be hanging in LIMBO because coach didn't answer these player questions. JUST BE STRAIGHTFORWARD!!!!

I get the impression that he was straightforward with Owens. I'm sure he will be with the rest of the guys. Honestly hope we don't lose anyone else.

Reggie Johnson, Wayne Chism and Steve Hamer have to be in that discussion.

Yeah. Hamer. (I still think Len was better, but I had overlooked Steve, and you're right.) For Reggie and Wayne, the poster seemed to be saying "traditional center" (and I'll emphasize "seemed" to show I could be wrong about what he meant), and I'm not sure either of them fit the bill. Reggie's bread and butter was a line drive jumper around the free throw line, and Chism refused to get down in the paint and mix it up, or at least, wouldn't do it very often. No major defensive presence with either one.

Hope we get some official word on the home front soon. To much fan speculated rumors floating around for my taste.

Recruiting wise or..? Other than Tariq Owens, there aren't any rumors about any other players transferring from what I gather. Which is awesome to hear.
