Has Pruitt saved his job?

I would think so.

Solid performance tonight.
That's was a sloppy performance against what amounts to a scout team coached by an assistant of a fired coach. Vandy has had numerous players "opt out" and were pretty awful to start with.

I actually like that Pruitt has finally allowed the "QB of the future" to be determined on the field. No problem with the sloppiness resulting from an inexperienced QB. But the D is ridiculously bad and still missing assignments as if they've never been coached. They just had their 9th game and had a penalty for too many players on the field and called a time out on another play because they didn't have enough.

To answer your question, this "win" should be a significant mark against him.

You obviously haven’t been on other team boards when they’re teams are struggling.
Yeah it’s not synonymous with the Vols for sure. I do think the sophomoric petty name calling might be though. Grown men and women crying like children ....pretty embarrassing for sure.

The future of a once-proud program hangs on who coaches UT in '21.

I suspect if it is Pruett, neither he nor Fulmer will be employed in '22.

Give him $7M and piss on a spark plug if that would give us a dominant OL

I don't believe it was seriously an issue at this time, we really can't count his first year against him, CBJ left the cupboards bare "Where are the Big Guys" comes to mind when CJP arrived, then he had to piece together players from CBJ's teams and get them up to speed, did a nice job there.....imo. He lost several key assistant coaches, S&C was the biggest hit.

I think the fans are being too unrealistic with how well CJP and coaches are doing this well considering all the variables. I don't believe he has been in the job long enough to truly change the culture and he is playing with mainly Freshman and Sophomores. As much as I don't like saying it JB really disappointed with all his experience, but he is a VFL as much as anyone.

So beating Arkansas and Kentucky are unrealistic expectations?

Of course not, but inexperience and lack of exposure in practices and youth did hurt their chances of winning + everything I stated above. Athletes are grounded in confidence in executing their skill sets, some of these players played soft and were more afraid of making a mistake vs. making a play. I did see more aggressive playing yesterday, and beating Vandy is not really a big deal, but I was watching how players were reacting and adjusting, and I did see some improvement.

Pruitt’s coaching prowess was on full display, as his charges systematically dismantled the absolute worst team in the SEC
Sure, he saved his job:)

If you can save your job by beating an 0-8 team, then it's not much of a job. However, it does appear that Pruitt will be back in 2021. If a change was going to be made based on the results this season, it would have been done by now.

Of course he hasn't saved his job - good lord. I promise you the real decision makers aren't judging a win over what was already the worst team in the SEC - MINUS over half of their roster with only 18 players available for defense - on whether Gomer comes back or not. There's a very, very good chance he doesn't IMO. A&M HAS to have style points for any chance of the playoffs. That game is a noon kickoff. They won't know whether the other pieces will fall into place or not so they will have to come out guns blazing.

I'm sure that Gomer knows what's coming next Saturday - and he'll likely icicle his pants several times this week just thinking about that. Next Saturday will be Gomer's swan song. I haven't seen a line on the game yet but it should come in around A&M being a 24-27 point favorite. I'd imagine that will be very likely. The kingdom will come crashing down next Saturday.....

Pruitt was going to be given a chance next year to right the ship. If not he will be gone. Pretty simple. Even for some here

Wasn't nothing solid about it. Two very bad teams playing and one has to lose. My gosh we are garbage.

I remember hearing Tim Priest near the end of the third qtr. (I think) say, "they look like two teams playing to get this game over with".....
Tim has become fairly critical of the whole bunch (coaches and players) of late. I think he is fed up with what he is seeing.

Solid performance tonight.

This was not a case where winning was going to save his job. Losing to a decimated Vandy would have been inexcusable and another embarrassing loss by Pruitt.
