Has Peyton Manning chimed in on the Heupel hire yet?

Its funny how Peyton's opinion is valued so highly by so many on VN and Tee Martin is trashed over and over again by many posters.
I don't give a rats a$$ what either of them says, in another 5 years Peyton will be to Tennessee what Namath is to Bama or what Archie is to Ole Miss. Just a name in the history books

I get it...I love Peyton as much as the next Vol fan and really truly do respect and honor him for what he did for this school and still does for this program.

But, taking the peanut out of the shell here - why does everyone value the opinion so much of a guy that has never coached, never mentored (to my knowledge), never recruited, or ever ran a sports organization regarding the HC at Tennessee?

I mean seriously, we aren't all tripping over each other to find out Al Wilson's opinion, or Condredge Holloway's opinion, or Schuler's, Colquitt's, etc. etc. etc....you see my point?

I'm sure it's because Manning has a reputation for having an extremely high football I.Q. as well as having had a successful college career AND a wildly successful career in the NFL. His former HOF coach, Tony Dungy, often lauded Peyton's work ethic and preparation. Basically, Manning is famous for having his football sh!t together in a way that no other VFL is, and his entire family gene pool is there as backup. Love him or hate him, he's got a good head for football and people know it.

Totally understand that and not disputing it at all.

My point is YES, Peyton has a great football IQ individually, but what has he done as far as coaching or mentoring to show any of us that he can pass that knowledge onto a team of individuals to the point that some people feel he would be a great head coach or OC immediately?

Yes. He did. It just so happened to not be here. But that doesn't have quite the same effect.

Peyton Manning recommended Adam Gase to Jets

I'm sorry. Peyton was a great player. Sucks at recommending coaches. Fulmer was at one time a great coach. Sucks at being an AD. Etc etc etc.

Santa Claus isn't real and VFLs are just people with flaws like everyone else. Hate to break it to you. Peyton recommending the worst coach in NFL history is reason enough to not care who he wants to hire... If not outright avoid who he wants to hire.
Hate to break it to you, but we are not the Jets. Rarely you will find a very good NFL coach become a very good college coach. I know, Saban did. However, I don’t think Payton was recommending any coach for White to hire.
