Has Peyton Manning chimed in on the Heupel hire yet?

If I am not mistaken, they know each other personally.

Peyton will be supportive but I'm sure that wisdom has taught him not to give ringing endorsements of new coaches by now.

I'm not concerned what celebrities think. Even if he is a celebrated football player. I would be much more interested in what coaches think

Yes. He did. It just so happened to not be here. But that doesn't have quite the same effect.

Peyton Manning recommended Adam Gase to Jets

I'm sorry. Peyton was a great player. Sucks at recommending coaches. Fulmer was at one time a great coach. Sucks at being an AD. Etc etc etc.

Santa Claus isn't real and VFLs are just people with flaws like everyone else. Hate to break it to you. Peyton recommending the worst coach in NFL history is reason enough to not care who he wants to hire... If not outright avoid who he wants to hire.

I’m with you 💯! I was about to say the same thing until I saw your post. The only thing I will add is I hope PM continues to be a big part of UT in recruiting players, fans, and giving his money. But he needs to stay the h311 outta coaching decisions. Remember, he supported Schiano!

I'm pretty sure he knows more about it than you or I do.

Tenn and Jets are different teams if you haven’t noticed.

I guarantee he knows more about it than me. But his record on recommending and/or supporting coach hires for UT is horrible. Remember, he supported Schiano!

LOL ... Calling your bluff on that. Cite your source PM supported an arse like Schiano.

I mean it’s been well reported by credible media guys that it was. If you think they would’ve offered Schiano without PM’s support, esp after the drama when PM played Schiano’s Bucs then you’re way behind. PM is is one of UT’s most prominent boosters. He definitely had a say. Don’t come at me with a bluff call. It’s common sense, man!

I get it...I love Peyton as much as the next Vol fan and really truly do respect and honor him for what he did for this school and still does for this program.

But, taking the peanut out of the shell here - why does everyone value the opinion so much of a guy that has never coached, never mentored (to my knowledge), never recruited, or ever ran a sports organization regarding the HC at Tennessee?

I mean seriously, we aren't all tripping over each other to find out Al Wilson's opinion, or Condredge Holloway's opinion, or Schuler's, Colquitt's, etc. etc. etc....you see my point?

Just a guess but donating up in the millions might put you ahead of one those etc. I might even go out on a limb and say him having one of the sharpest minds about the game to have ever played will get him a phone call.

Peyton is a Jimmy Haslam mouthpiece.
He will speak when given permission.
I don't know that he is a mouth piece but I do think him and his family would like to have some type of part ownership in the Browns.

I am sure some boosters asked Peyton what he thought of a potential HC but I don't think Danny White asked if he thought Heupel would be OK as the next HC. I think he is a little different type of AD than what we have been use to in the past.

I would imagine at this point that Peyton might be slightly more connected to some coaches at this present time than the others you mentioned.

Money and a desire to someday maybe owning a team or having the same position as Elway in Denver. People around here need to understand that Peyton has moved on from college football as far as wanting to be involved in any capacity other than being a donor. He and his family are looking at the things that can advance them financially and the one thing that they all seem to enjoy is the NFL.

A hole lot of experience in coaching and building a team.
I see what you did there. While Schiano couldn't have done worse than Pruity, he may have been almost as bad and he is certainly a world class a hole.

One other thing thing to consider if Schiano had been hired is JG would likely be back for year 6

I love Peyton, but who cares what he really thinks. He liked ADPF and CJP.
