I’m pretty sure those are just graphics. 128 decibels is very loud. Think gunshots, pneumatic riveters, etc.

I guess Neyland could’ve been that loud last Saturday but it wasn’t according to people I know that went.

Neyland doesn’t reach its peak loudness until the cooler months, especially at night. The cooler air and the design traps the noise inside the stadium.

It’s science, Yeah!

The loudest single moment in Neyland stadium history was when Dolly walked out. If you were there, you know. Unfortunately, it was followed by the quietest moment when everyone was trying to hear her broken microphone.

I guess the Georgia players who said it was the loudest must have lied. Plus I saw video of a Georgia fan saying it was so loud they couldn’t hear someone next to them screaming to them.

No? Both things can be true. It’s still going to be one of the loudest stadiums. Some for the recent renovations have arguably affected the noise.

Both things can be true. It may well have been the loudest they’ve ever played in, but they’re all in their early 20’s at the oldest. They never played in the stadium when one whole sideline wasn’t a wine/cheese luxury area, the north end zone was fully enclosed and lots of the most passionate fans weren’t getting priced out altogether.

I’m sure it was incredibly loud, but changes to the stadium over the last decade all but guarantee it won’t ever be loud like those 90’s and 00’s games. Not sure it really matters though. The stadium can still easily get loud enough the other team can’t communicate and another 10% louder wouldn’t make a difference.

Not sure I agree. The camera was literally shaking last year against Florida.

It was louder than many games I went to in old Neyland. It was much louder than several games I went to in the 2004-2006 seasons

I’ll take your word for it. I wasn’t there. The two loudest games I’ve ever been at were ‘04 Florida and ‘06 Cal. Was also at the Bama game in ‘22 and IMO is wasn’t even remotely on the same level as either of those games. Could have just been where I was sitting though.

I was in the lower bowl. It was not as loud as I thought it would be for GA. However, I will say i think the heat/time of day affected it. Sitting in the heat, in direct sun absolutely affected my crews ability to scream. Lightheaded was mentioned a few times. I think it would have been very different with a night game. It was loud, just not Neyland at Night loud.

In my opinion it was louder than 2006 Cal. Oddly enough I was sitting in almost the same part of the stadium for both games. But I’m with you, every able bodied man needs to do his part and stand and yell for the defense. To me it’s a privilege to get to be at Neyland and everyone should want to give their all or get the hell out.

Have the "wine and cheese" crowd usurped the infamous "blue hairs" as the worst fans in the world?

Well I have been going since the 80’s and it gets just as loud now as then. Bama in 2022 the ground was shaking. Many more real loud games just in the last few years. I really don’t understand your thinking. GBO

Wasn’t around then but I think it’s probably louder now. But again I wasn’t around and only have seen it replayed on YouTube

Did you read my entire post ? I stated that the decibel levels may have been very high a few times, but it was the sustained noise level for four quarters that I was asking about.
