Has Neyland lost some volume ?

Everyone is probably tired of hearing me say it over and over, but it's never as loud as it was back in the 80s-90s when the upper deck stayed seated and stomped their feet. You can't make a noise by yelling or clapping that can come close to that.

At the 1992 Bama game it sounded like a continuous earthquake

Maybe they don’t make underwear like they used to, but if yours aren’t fitting right, it’s likely that you’ve gained weight.

While drinking beer may make people more rowdy and louder, it also takes thousands out of the stands and standing in line far more continuously. Just seems like fewer people are tuned in actually watching the game when they are there.

Yes the stomping in the upper deck was crazy loud and scary sitting under it. Used to feel like it was going to collapse. 1985 Auburn with Bo Jackson in Neyland was absolutely bonkers. The Vols punished Jackson and Auburn

Just a simple question, pal.
Wondered if the discussions I've heard had merit.
Personally, while I appreciate Danny White's efforts, I don't want to stray too far from our traditional values in the name of the dollar.
My main concern is ticket prices which Ticketmaster has a stranglehold on at this point. I think the core Tennessee fan is being priced out of buying. tickets. The company (TM) is being investigated for their monopoly in selling and pricing entertainment tickets. I don't there is such a thing as a face value on tickets anymore. Everything involved with going to a game from out of town (food, hotel, ticket prices and restaurants is going to keep me at home the rest of the year except for a trip to Tuscaloosa. I have the money to spend for these things but I am tired of UT taking advantage of the fan base. The fiasco of trying to get in the upper deck (i hr) and the hour wait to get a bus back to coliseum where we parked just irked me to no end. UT needs to start thinking about the fan or I'm through going to games. I have two degrees from UT and have gone to games since 1963. The emphasis on money is ruining college football. I can watch the pros on Sunday.

I've been fortunate to be at several big games in my lifetime..... There are some games I've been too that are so loud you cannot hear your self. I never
experienced that at the recent UGA game. There was noise, but I expected much better.

I don’t know why I failed to mention this sooner. It’s zero mystery why the stadium has lost energy.

Neyland truly has lost volume. Look no further than the actual volume of the bleachers. They added more cubicles during the offseason and lowered the capacity, yet again.

Watching on television, it appeared the UGA players on the field rarely had an issue communicating. That doesn’t happen when Neyland is really rocking. I assume the heat and being a day game combined to knock the edge off some of the crowd.

Georgia game was loud but the team when quiet the 2nd and 3rd quarter.

Stadium ran out of water.

Took an hour to get to your seats once inside the stadium.

Judging only from my sofa, the 2022 Bama game seemed like a level above last Saturday. I don’t know why, but the UGA game always seems to be a step below UF and Bama. It shouldn’t be.

I’ve been at louder but not too many. The ease Georgia had at moving the ball took some of the piss out of the crowd. But it was still very loud. The strip sack was about as loud as it’s been. Be the difference when you go to games. Stand the whole time and yell.

I've heard several discussions this year about a drop in the game atmosphere and volume at Neyland for the Vols' home games.

This has been attributed to increased ticket prices that attract more of the "wine & cheese" crowd than the traditional common fan who is there only for the game. More of these current fans are attending games in one of the luxury suite areas that are closed off from the field or in the alternate areas of the stadium designed for socializing more than screaming your lungs out and insulting opponents throughout the game. Basically, do we now have a more civil fan going to Neyland on Saturdays who are distracted by interests beyond the game and making as much noise as possible ? Not sure what the decibel levels were at the Georgia game, but even if they hit a few high points, the more important advantage is constant noise throughout the entire 4 quarters that traditional fans are more likely to sustain.
It probably won’t ever be as loud as it was pre party deck. I think 2015 OU is the loudest Neyland will ever be without adding more seats.
