...transferred yet? This is the second time this season that they didn't give him the ball with the game on the line. That kid gets away with felony assault when he runs. Toughest running back TN has had since...who?
I'd be a bit pi$$ed.
And please don't tell me he was having a bad game without telling me who you are comparing him to. Players get the ball, period.

Have to throw with that little time left
Maybe should have throw it to him...

Give him the ball and you don't have to throw. They were on the two yard line. He scores.
I'll take Kelly with one chance over three passes with a short field.

This is from the same coaching staff that goes shotgun from the 6 inch line...

No surprises here.

Yeah, should've ran him up the middle again since he was having so much success at that.....

The running game did nothing in the second half.did you even watch the game

My opinion you still give it to your best player from the two yard line and take your chances. At least then you can say we put it in the hands of our horse and it was not meant to be. That being said we called a pass play and JG put it on the money and once again we did not catch a big pass when the chips were down. This team has learned to lose instead of learning to win. They appear to have no belief that they can pull it out in the clutch. It was just ugly once we got down close to the goal line like it has been all year.

You don't when there's 1 second left. Games going to end either way.

Or 4 seconds left

because anywhere but home and the clock hits zero when they run a play

I would've won or lost on John Kelly. Just stupid

"This team has learned to lose instead of learning to win."
Like he said.
I started wondering about how long JK would stay a while back. I don't know all the ins-and-outs involved in transferring but if I were Kelly, I'd be wanting to go somewhere that returned respect for performance. Our QB was running for his life most of the game trying to find targets from a collapsing pocket... and the coaches decide to go with THAT..????
Sorry..I'm rapidly losing faith in Butch. That's coming from someone who has been a HUGE Butch Jones supporter and btw: I'm still glad he came to UT when he did, given what was going on at that time.

South Carolina was clearly going to be in a zone D with 3 receivers lined up. That would be the best time to punch it up the middle.

Everyone should know by now that when UT is doing something that is working, they will change the play. Yesterday Kelly is gashing SC. So what do they do? A retarded trick play to finally get a TD after almost 2 full games without one..and fail...

and the passing game did?

After yesterday, I think that CBJ has put himself in the same boat that CPF was in 10-11 years ago. He hired an offensive coordinator who produced an offense which could not adjust his scheme to fit the talent or lack there of. I do not apologize for thinking/hoping that this team could have had a decent season this year, but the offense has not performed any better than the Clawson's offense. However, I will not bash CBJ the way many posters on this board have done. There is No reason to for posters to attack the personalities of any coach the way they have attacked CBJ. I hope posters will began to show the respect that all Tennessee coaches deserve, even when it is evident that he/she need to be replaced.

I support all coaches at Tennessee because that is what loyal fans of their University are should do, at least until we find ourselves facing situations that we are now seeing. I have hope that, when a replacement is named, that many of the current recruits can be signed in the early signing period. I think our new AD, will find a coach who will return us to where we need to be. It is time for Tennessee to field a team which all of us will support.

I appreciate their effort too and wish them the best at their next job.

This is not an attack on Kelly because he’s our best player period but the better question to me is why doesn’t Chandler get more carries? It wasn’t rolling for Kelly in the second half (though I share the confusion about not continuing to run when he and Chandler were rolling in the first half). Chandler had 4 carries for 45 yards for 11.3 a carry. I think they were all in the first half. Kelly had 16 carries for 55 yards for 3.6 a carry. Chandler had a great 30 yard run that bolstered his average but he also gained 15 yards total on his other 3 carries for 5 yards a carry. Kelly had a 24 yard run to bolster his yards per carry but that just draws into focus how bad his second half carries were yesterday. So, instead of giving the ball to Chandler we just kept getting stuffed. Doug Mathews talked about Chandler being a transcendent talent like Cobb or Webb and he looks great in limited carries and then his role has not grown. Yet another reason a new coaching staff is sorely needed.

The only way this coaching staff plays 2nd and 3 Rd team players is if there is an injury. Most of our defensive players play the entire game which is why we are horrible by the 4th quarter.

Did you even watch the Florida game? Kelly had 3.6 yards per carry. Were we on the 3.7? Chandler over 11 ypc.
I know that is an average but my point is why are you taking the ball out of your best player's hand (again!) when you need two (2) yards? 6 feet.
And no, of course I didn't watch the game. Saturdays are for antiquing.
