Has Heupel surpassed Butch as the best post-Fulmer coach?

We've played probably the hardest schedule in the country and have came out the other side clean. We got to get our secondary back in shape.

Best coach since 98...

I don't know how you can ask this question. They were playing tight man to man yesterday and were prepared fully and forced them into zone coverage to survive. They were on their heels from that point forward in the game. This staff wins the X O battle every week. To compare with Butch Jones is not possible.

With the win against Bama yesterday, I think an argument could be made for Heupel being our best coach since Fulmer. However, Butch won all 3 bowl games, while Heupel is 0-1. Butch also had back to back 9 win seasons and beat Georgia, which Heupel hasn’t done. However, Butch never beat Alabama, so I’d say those two things cancel each other out. Also, both beat Florida. What do you guys think? Has Josh surpassed Butch yet, or does he need more time?

Did Butch ever even beat a top 10 team? I think the USCe one was almost a top 10; 11th AP, 10th in the coach's poll or something like that. What was Butch's record against top 25 opponents? Heupel has already beaten 4 this year alone, and 1 last year (which was also on the road). I don't think beating a bunch of bad big 10 teams in bowl games is that impressive. Butch barely even managed to get 6 wins in year 2 in the regular season, Heupel has 6 wins in 6 games.

Coach Heupel does not talk like a psychologizing used car salesman. He speaks openly and honestly, and he actually knows very well how to coach. Comparing their records at this point seems kind of silly. Coach Heupel brings far superior knowledge, experience, and attitude. He's a keeper.

Not until he gets two 9 win seasons and wins some bowl games. Is he headed in that direction, well he's headed in a direction that quite possibly put him up there with the elites. 55-14 ain't no slouch--espefislly when you consider 6 of those came from his willfulness to take on a depleted 3 win dumpster fire. Regardless, the record has to be there. You can't logically say someone is as good as someone else when they did what they did year after year.

He is 18-6 so far with a 7-6 season and so far a 6-0 season with half a season to go and two more ranked opponents and a hungry USC ahead of us and a bowl game.

I honestly wish all the bragging would stop until the season is over and we would just enjoy the moment, but I guess that's how some have fun. But IMO we are way ahead of ourselves on so many fronts.

If you were raised right, you would know Ga and Fla are pains but AL is HATE and that is all that matters. No more no less.
