Has Coach Azzanni earned our respect back yet?

I'll let you know at the end of the season. Early returns were not good. Stock on the upswing... We'll see if it keeps rising.

No ****. But we're not paid mils to.

Please tell us why you think he is a bad coach. Is it because his receivers dropped numerous passes in the first half of Saturday's game? Not in my opinion. Does the fact that UT's receivers made fantastic catches in the second half make him a coaching genius? Again, not in my opinion. I believe there are ways to judge Azzanni as a coach: how well do his receivers hustle, how well do they block on running plays, and how well do they run their routes when they know they are decoys. Just my two cents.

Well he was real smart and overqualified for the job a few years back and we were lucky to keep him.

Then he all of a sudden got dumb as a box of rocks and we needed to fire him.

But after Saturday it's looking like he may be gettin' smarter again. If this keeps up we'll be beggin' Hart to open the checkbook with a blank check to keep him before the Patriots replace Belicheck with him.

Strange how assistants go through those kinda swings.

In his defense he's rarely had a roster full of healthy guys.

In the players defense they haven't always had throws in stride.

To his discredit, his group has had a lot of drops even when he had the first two.

In Butch I trust, but he replaced his OC and DC for similar results.

We should be passing like we did 2H florida every game. Byrd is going to be a weapon--get him deep and get him space. We have weapons. Kamara out of the backfield, too. TE, Malone. We did a good job of getting the ball to different receivers--one of the best aspects of the game, for sure. Keep doing it.

So if Azzani is the main one responsible for the improved passing game, he still doesnt get a pass? Sounds about par for the course here on VN.

I honestly dont know if Azzani is responsible for the improved WR play or not. But, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I think he deserves one more year.

I think that is the question. Is he the reason? I really trust Butch, so if he likes Azzani fine. I don't think one game defines him good or bad though and I get why people have had questions or still might.

ITs not Azzani dropping the passes. These guys flipped their own switches. He just shows them the plays and routes to run. The players need to execute.

Regarding Jennings' catches, I've seen many references to Jennings ballin' out . . . but no one saying "man, that dudes been coached up!"

not sure how "improved" we are at catching the ball, we had more drops in the 1st half than we had in the past 10 games. glad the players stepped up and made some plays though

It's four games in. I'll still hold off until after Bama to make a decision.

Azz is doing a fantastic job with Malone, Jenning and Byrd.

Azz needs to work harder with Smith & Williams.

Coach Scott is doing ok with Wolf. Croom still needs more groom.

I'd say it all started __ years ago when most people posting on Volnation didn't decide to pursue a job in the coaching field. From there it's history.

I would venture to say that nobody on VN has the knowledge to coach football at the collegiate level. The way some people talk, it must be very easy to do.

Just curious to see if anyone on here believes that Azzanni should still be fired or given another chance considering our WRs have improved this season so far?

LOL--When you're a Vol coach, you're only as good as your critics' last post.

It's a volnation tradition to both forgive and condemn on the latest whim. If volnation were god, we'd have to move hell next door to heaven just for logistics, to save time bouncing people back-and-forth.

Sorry but I'm going to have to see a little more before I eat crow on Azzanni. When we get consistency out of our receivers I'll eat it.

Damn double, that was almost Negavol like, Im proud of ya! :) Ij/k I agree, we need less drops week to week.

Someone said the Wr coach doesnt help them catch the ball but they do. There are all kinds of drills and techniques that can be taught to work on the catch!
