What I hear is something along the lines of “I pulled back because of the way our defense was playing, hell of a job.”

For crying out loud, that was clearly supposed to be something shared only between the two of them. Heupel covers his mouth while he's talking. He may not have known that other camera was in position to capture it, but it sure looks like that was just for the two of them.

Oh sorry man, not you, you didn't shoot it. Just whoever shot and put it out there. I get what you're saying. Just, if that was for the two of them, I wish whoever captured that could have respected that. Maybe it's no big deal to anyone involved, but it just looked to me like Heupel tried to keep it between the two of them.

lol I was like dang maybe I shouldn’t have shared it, but figured it was interesting! We all knew this already, and we all heard him essentially admit to it in the post game interview. But this is the nail in the coffin. Anyone from other fan bases saying we are coping, it’s straight from the horses mouth.

Yeah, that was my bad, man, I got all riled up there. I was just griping at whoever pointed the camera at them, watched him cup his hand over his mouth, and didn't take the hint. (And I get they know they're still in public and know it's not private, just -- c'mon. C'moooon. Give 'em that one.) But like you said, if it's out there it's out there, and it's definitely interesting to hear what they're really saying to one another out there, and how that reflects on what we saw in the game.

The deep pass across the middle and down either sideline was open all night. We hit it a few times, but they brought their safeties up for run support all night. We could have slaughtered them. It says much about our defense who on two of our turnovers went out on the field and the very next play turned it over back to us. First time I’ve ever seen that in a collegiate game.

These days, don’t say in public, surrounded by hundreds of people and dozens of cameras, what you want kept in private.

Hell, we’re not guaranteed privacy in our own home with a WIFI TV in the room or cell phone sitting on a table.

Wasn't Oklahoma playing on the same field? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall coach saying he did what you just explained. He said he pulled back but I don't think he's citing field conditions or anything like that

And if the tackles got beat a few more times resulting more strip sacks, we coulda lost the game. In fact, that is the only way we could lose that game.

I think CJH did a masterful job managing this game and coaching this team to a double digit win, while covering the spread, against a historically Top-10 program IN THEIR HOUSE.

I think what he said was really cool. I don't see any harm in it getting out. It may be one of those secrets you want to get out? I think everyone knows someone like this...... You have a secret you really want everyone to know but it can't come from you. So you go to that person that can't keep the mouth shut and tell them.

I was thinking the same thing Saturday, but, my guess is OU wasn't moving the ball due to our D playing lights out, the field was garbage, we were missing our two starting OTs, and there was really no reason to open things up. What happens if you get greedy and Nico throws a pick 6 across the middle (just playing devil's advocate here)? All of a sudden they have momentum. No reason to even risk that or injury so long as you can keep a 2+ score lead and play field position.

Yeah, it was boring, but in a tough road game environment, with a young QB, it was smart. The crowd was checked out and wasn't even a factor by the end of the second quarter. Even our fans were louder. It worked like a charm.

Heupel knew that once we went up 19-3 it was pretty much an insurmountable lead for OU given the way that our defense was playing. It showed a lot of maturation and growth as a coach. As for the comments to Nico. He was probably just reassuring him that it was nothing that he did wrong, he just didn't feel the need to make Nico throw more.

Ummm…this has been repeated far and wide online since the game…our offensive capacity was limited without our two starting tackles. Having Heard and Campbell out led to two strip-sacks of Nico, which could have been catastrophic. Somehow, we were able to keep running the ball, which kept us in the game and chewed up clock. Our running game reminded me of Majors and Fulmer, when we “pounded the rock” until cracks began to appear in the line. Sampson and Bishop earned every yard they got. And I think we had 2-3 deep balls/splash plays, one of them for a score.

The way Heupel and our guys coached this game was huge. Atypical but very impressive and effective against a stout OK defense.

After a second look at this, I don’t think Heupel was shielding his comment. He was using his hand to channel his voice into Nico’s ear over all the noice around them.

Camera and recording devices are everywhere now. There's no such a thing as privacy. Malicious jackals are even using drones to peek through your windows. I don't blame pizzed off people shooting the things out of the sky, flying over their property. I'd do the same.
