Has another QB ever really had a TRUE chance to play?

It sucks for JG..... you know he wants to win and play well..... he’s got the physical tools.... the toughness..... but he just can’t seem to put it all together on a SEC level.

He’s been here too long, underachieved at best and practically blown games at worst. He’s had too many chances for me to feel sorry for him anymore. The fans are the victims for having to put up with it for so long. If we’re gonna feel sorry for the players: Think about all the WR talent we’ve had since he’s been here and how virtually none of those guys have been drafted or on the NFL’s radar. Feel sorry for those guys. Think about the other guys in the QB room that go to the meetings, show up for practice, lift weights and balance their education to be sent out for one play and have to sit. Feel sorry for those guys. Bottom line: I’m not going to feel sorry for 1 guy when so many players and fans have suffered from his shortcomings.

The problem is that Maurer and Shrout are not SEC caliber QBs. Here are their offer lists out of high school for evidence:

Maurer - TN, Appy St., Boston College, Charlotte, and Cincy

Shrout - TN, Cal, Ball St., Colorado St., Hawaii

Those are AWFUL offer lists. And yet so many think these guys are capable of playing in the SEC? We were the only SEC offers these guys had.
Boston College: Doug Flutie, Matt Ryan, Tim Hasselbeck, Matt Hassellbeck
California: Aaron Rodgers

Hawaii, Cincinnati, Ball State have sent qb's to the NFL in the last 10 years . None have made a splash, but they made a roster for a while. .

I do feel sorry for JG because I really like the kid but everything you said is true.

Kyle Trask's only other offer was Houston Baptist. He has 1000 yards, 14 tds and 1 int through 4 SEC games this year.

SInce Connor Bazelak took over for Missouri vs us he has about 600 yards passing and 4 tds with 1 int in one and a half games. Missouri was his best offer. He's a Dooley recruit for them and a rs Freshman.

Collin Hill had 0 SEC offers, 3 ACL surgeries and grad transferred to South Carolina. His stats are better than our QB stats by a decent margin. More yards and way fewer turnovers.

Stetson Bennett's best offer was a toss up between Middle Tennessee and Georgia Southern. He has right at 1000 yards and 7 tds for UGA in 3.5 games.

That's 4 starters out of the other 13 teams with QBs starting that were equal or worse rated coming out of high school than any QB on our roster and all have better stats than all our QBs combined even with less game action.

Maurer threw 5 picks over 8 games. Guarantano has turned the ball over 6 times in the last 6 quarters, and 3 have been returned for tds. Your argument just doesn’t hold water.
He didn't play 8 full games you nimrod. He might have played a series or two in some of them. Don't make him out to be peyton manning here. And don't lie.

All I know is that when Mauer went in the whole team was visibly excited. There was a 180 from their body language in the previous games, which tells me the team had way more faith in BM than JG.

The idea Butch did the family a favor is beyond ridiculous.
Urban Meyer and Bob Stoops wanted him badly. His stock was HIGH and he is one of the biggest QB busts of the last two decades if not ever.
Meet QB Jarrett Guarantano, the Best First-Year Starter in High School Football
I wish they would have taken him. We wouldn't have to be dealing with the problem.
It's like parents dealing with a problem child
and totally neglecting the other 3 kids and they end up down the tubes. Put that with
Pruitt and JG and our other QB'S.

Do we even know if Maurer has been healthy enough to take the #1 snap for the past couple months or to start the season as the starter?
Based on last year's performance I thought he might emerge as the starter but maybe to much has happened since then. I don't know.
Everyone around the program is so tight lipped it is impossible for us (or at least me) to know what is going on. I don't even know who the primary backup is going into the game or who is even available.

Just so JG wouldn't be slighted, all four quarterbacks would be told they would all play and JG would have to understand he's not being there forever and the others need to be developed and if he didn't like it as my old aunt would say" that' s just to da- ned bad"

Assuming you are right, why did the guy with elite offers (HB) receive less than 10 reps during fall practice as has been reported?

Its not like this current offensive playbook is working or is even being run efficiently. Chaney and offensive staff need to adapt to personnel at QB to make them successful. Plenty of coaches do this but we can't seem to figure it out.

In my opinion they ARE adapting. That's why our offense is extremely conservative now. Lots and lots of runs and no downfield throws unless down-and-distance dictates it. The dont and cant trust JG. The offense is very limited and vanilla now because of JGs inability to manage a game.

Another clueless quote. This was his list PRE Elite 11 which also includes WVU and UCF. POST Elite 11 includes what you won’t see. He had another 10+ offers from the likes of UGA, UF, Penn St, Miami, Notre Dame, UCLA and several others I can’t remember off the top of my head. He CHOSE for those offers to remain confidential because he’d already committed to UT. When he put out the tweet that he was “shutting down” his recruitment? He did that because UGA was blowing him up.

Well it wasnt that confidential I guess. You know about it LOL

Also theres no way Maurer starts for UGA or UF given who their QBs ended up being.

My guess is he chose UT because it was his best chance to be a starter at a power 5 school.

I knew about it because of how close I am to the situation. I’ve seen the texts and the offers.

You can’t say that because he would’ve been being developed at UF and UGA. Maurer has all the arm talent those guys have along with the ability to run, throw on the run and off platform.

And your guess would be wrong as usual.

Right. I'm wrong because some mystery message board guy who was "close to the situation" claims it to be true. I'm going to rely on what I actually see, thank you for trying.
