Hart striking Out?

Hart should be meeting with candidates - Howland is out there and all but called a presser to announce he wants the job. Hart won't even talk to him.
It seems no other accomplished candidate is interested? What gives...

And how do you know this? I mean we didn`t even have a clue that Martin had spoke to Cal.

Love how some people think the AD's job is to let the fanbase in on what is usually one of the most closed door transactions on all of sports.

You left out the hatred some our fans show and petitions they start. Some will turn the job down due to that. So it might take a little time.

Yes coaches will be so scared of a petition that meant nothing and was about a coach who just signed a new deal with another school. Get over the petition... No I did not sign it but you all are ridiculous

You don't know if he is talking to Howland or not or who he is talking to....Nobody knows but Hart..Not sure where you guys get your rumors from.

This is a holiday weekend. I am not surprised that all is quiet on the Hill. I will begin to be concerned if we are still waiting a week from now.

Hart is doing the search himself. If there were a consulting firm that had been hired, then I imagine that some leaks would have happened by now. However; Hart is the only one who knows for sure, other than the prospective coach and his agent.

Yesterday, I was listening to Martin on the radio and he said that after the Florida game in the S.E.C. tourney, that Cal had been in touch. However, you and I never even heard a wimper about that.

If Hart and any prospective coach wants to keep things quiet, then it will be kept quiet, until they want us to know.

Just a clue for everyone. Look at the N.I.T. tourney results. Look for a team that went far in the N.I.T. and you will find out new coach. Because you know that Hart won't pay a basketball coach more than he pays the football coach. He is looking for an up and comer.

I know Pitino & Larry Brown did well in the N.I.T. but who else????

How do you know this???....You don't...Talk about getting a clue..Nobody on this board has any idea NONE about who he is talking to or not.

i got a bad feeling about this search. unless we get a big name guy like donovan, we are screwed. IMHO i don't think he leaves florida, but we need someone of his caliber

Are you on crack? Donovan is a top 5 coach, we are a second tier program. Why the heck would you even mention his name? Why not offer coach K?

There's a tight lid on all the search info and what is out is purely speculation... But...... When it happens you'll read it on...... VOLNATION!! :p

Sweet baby Tebow ladies and gentlemen. It's been 3 days on a major holiday weekend. Give it time. UT isn't competing with anyone at the moment so relax. Hart knows a great deal more about this than we do.

I agree their is no need to panic, just yet. But has Missouri hired somebody already?

I may be way off and kind of hope Hart would not do this but what if Hart is looking at 2-3 "up and comer" types(1 million-1.5 million a year) and rather than be in a position where mizzou looking as well driving up the price, Hart waits for them to make their hire then he gets one of his 2-3 guys he was considering all along at a better price?

Very possible. Let's just hope if that's the case they can be close to the level of BJ(so far)

I'm not expecting a presser, but come on - there have been no rumors regarding "this guy is interested" or "hart is on the plane to X" or "this guy is in knoxville as we speak". Nothing like that?

Maybe with all the coaching searches we've had over the past few years, i've gotten used to more info but Im worried no info may be a bad thing?

What? With all the coaching searches we've had over the past few years you should be used to this by now. None of those searches went fast, definitely not fast enough for most of these crazy fans. What difference does it make if the hire is fast, or slow in your opinion. Get the right person, that's all that matters. AND the people who make these decisions (NOT HART), have their own timetable and could not care less about how you feel.

I just heard from a person with impeccable reliability - my brother's best friend's wife's ex-husband's cousin - and he says it is without a doubt some unknown named Bruce Gruden. :horse:

I say bring Geno from UConn here. That would solve two problems with one hire.

Makes sense. Give up the job where you just won the NCAA championship and have a great support all around to take a job where the last successful (minority) coach was just run out of town by thousands of ungrateful fans who don't have a clue about basketball.

"one successful NCAAT run" out of three regular seasons and three post season.

nothing more nothing less.
