That's because that was when the team played with a fierceness and passion under the leadership of a then aggressive coaching staff. The team also played a "huge" part by getting out there driving each other and playing hard on the field. And yes I'm one of those who still talk about that game because I saw how hard those young men played because I saw the coaches in their faces. I know of one of those players personally from the day he was born, and even when he was home, his focus was on being sure his team mates did their jobs. I watched him on the sidelines, and he was shouting and yelling hard to push his team. When someone messed up, he was right there too. Because of that "team effort", I saw them roll through the SEC like a Mack truck. 97 and 98 were two years of pride because of the way the "team" performed. If you don't have coaches driving their players what are they going to do? Since '98 have we won another NC? No! Have we won a series of SEC championships? No! Have we beaten SEC opponents in such a way as to rank? No. I applaud your youthfulness but for folks like me, I remember that year with pride. I do so for a lot more than just the actual field of play but the passion, power, and drive those guys had. We have the potential to be that again with the right coaching staff. Just my opinion. Still proud of our guys, but they need help! Coaching help!
