Hart has failed (again)

You mean like how if someone argues in any way positive for UT or against Pearl, they're a Martin lover?

Why do you always try to act so smart when you post? And I didn't even mention Bruce Pearl cause he's out of the picture. I was just trying to get my point across to some of the fans who think next year will be good when really it won't be.

IMO, the only way Hart failed is if anyone was given any indication of interest in Pearl or not. Even if you're smart enough to stay away from that debacle, you don't want to give him, or other potential suitors, any indication of your intentions. Pearl has earned no favors from the University.

Auburn has repeatedly shown they're not above shady dealings in athletics. I'm glad you can't say the same about UT.

I'm repulsed by many in this fan base that so openly show such disdain for this team. The coach is part of the team. At least have the common decency to wait until a season has concluded before undermining the program. On top of it all, if a recruit will choose a team based on a shoe contract, I think it's safe to assume the fan base is taken into consideration too. In effect, the negativity sabotages the coaching staff and recruiting efforts. In simple language, it's called being a bandwagon fan.

And for clarity, you can be an unhappy fan without such personal vitriolic hatred. This isn't about being satisfied with perceived mediocrity, it's about supporting the Vols.

If he cared about the Vols at all he would have had auburn make this announcement after our game not the day before it and get our fan even more separated.

Reminds me of a similarly ill-timed presser by Hamilton. Our next game was a 30 point loss to Michigan in the first round of the tourney. Maybe his timing was intentional.

REALLY??? Oh my my......this is REALLY getting out of hand....kinda funny though...in a sick sorta way...

I mean, come on, he led a Vols team to within one basket of the Final Four. And we let him get away. Hart should have made a post-suspension deal with Pearl. The powers that be let UT's chance at being a basketball school ... get away. I hope BP kills it at Auburn.

What an epic failure of a thread. Considering the OP, it's not at all surprising.

200 responses and 6,000 views in 4 hours on the basketball forum.

Freak should put me on the payroll. I've still got it.

Regardless, as a guy who attended almost every Wade Houston / Allen Houston home basketball game, it's going to be tough to see CBP at the Barn, and moreover, the way Hambone capitulated to the NCAA is just disgusting.

There is NO FREAKIN' WAY CBP should have been punished with that level of severity. Hambone might be a really good man, but he was the epitome of epic fail as AD.

PS - plus, I set-up GAVol for a gaggle of Likes. Already epic, IMHO.

The reason Bruce is at Auburn and not Tennessee is Bruce.

Move on.

We don't wanna move on. It's time for UT to grieve the loss of their one chance at basketball greatness. Pearl had faults (oh no, barbecuegate) but his charisma and ability to motivate teams made him the ideal coach to build the program. He will beat UT like a drum.

And of course there is NO OTHER COACH IN THE WORLD that can coach at Tennessee and win.

And I clicked on that damn like button by mistake, I need to make sure what I am clicking.

I would think Auburn would have a hefty buy out clause in contract to make it very expensive for Bruce to leave Auburn for TN.
I am sure this deal will be nothing like the deal Hamilton did with Kiffin.

That's the worry. It's not difficult to be a better AD than Hambone.

We don't have to be Kentucky. We have the resources to pay BOTH the football and basketball coach.

The problem is: will Dave "sit on hands" Hart (sounds like Hitman, doesn't it?) actually MAKE A MOVE.

Overall record: 462-145.
I hate that Bruce's 500th victory is not going to happen at UT.
Unless it happens to UT.

Had Pearl only told the truth and not tried to cover it up this would be a non issue and he would still be the coach at Tennessee

He was blindsided and told a white lie.

The UTAD should have rallied behind him and put up the walls of Jericho that no NCAA horn could blow down. It was done in the heat of the moment, and any of us might have made the same call in the same situation.

Regardless, his punishment was WAY OTT, absolutely no argument.

Well, from a living in Birmingham perspective, it's been about as much fun today as I thought it would be. A media love fest with all of the attention on Bruce Pearl and Auburn... Funny no real negative talk at all about him. hmmm... only how great of a marketer he is and how much excitement there will be with him there. Auburn fans crowing up a storm, excited as they can be, and Alabama fans sounding very much like, well Tennessee fans, resolved to the fact that they get to watch basketball as much fun to watch as paint drying for the foreseeable future... Actually the dejected bammer part I don't mind.

Sigh...

I wish CBP the best, and I sincerely, and I do mean SINCERELY, hope that CCM has it together now. If he doesn't, the next few years are going to be... Well, like the last few.

GBO!

Well since Ray Mears, other than CBP only one even came close, and that was the very short lived Jerry Green years. Yes, the coaches are out there, so break out that crystal ball and the bank account to pay enough to get them and go for it!

Dumber than Pringles

Volnation classic.

And Clay Travis nails it:

Bruce Pearl Arrives at Auburn : Outkick The Coverage

All, that is, except for Dave Hart and the UT administration who didn't want to see this kind of fun, frivolity and excitement associated with their basketball program.

Auburn Now Has the Best Coaching Tandem in the Country : Outkick The Coverage

Fast forward 16 months and everything has changed -- Auburn now has Gus Malzahn installed in football and today they added Bruce Pearl in basketball. In just sixteen months Auburn has gone from having two of the worst head coaches in college athletics to having the best.

Meanwhile pity poor Tennessee, the most snakebit program in major college athletics ever since Phil Fulmer was fired. Basically, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong with Tennessee athletics. I halfway expect for Butch Jones to get electrocuted using his microphone during spring practice. If General Neyland came back to life tomorrow, Mississippi State would find a way to hire him as football coach while Tennessee somehow found a way to rehire Derek Dooley.
