Harrison's scouting report

What did, in your opinion?

I thought she was rushing her shot. Izzy is a very physical player, and she gives as good as she gets. I thought she did a good job attacking Turner, but missed the open shots. She certainly kept her in check on the rebounding front.

Bigger, sturdier posts will stifle her because she won't be able to establish position for long. Players like Turner who are long and athletic aren't necessarily the kinds of players she will struggle against.

Diamond loves a challenge. She lit Duke up last year and i think Te'a Cooper will be tough in these type of games.

Harrison weakness tonight was her own self. Physicality had nothing to do with her game tonight, it was Amb3096 related to. Isabelle rushed her shot time after time tonight. She was her own worse enemy. In other games where she did well she took her time and really keyed in on her shots. Tonight it was like she was playing hot potato by herself.

Her rhythm was off tonight for sure, and we go as far as Izzy takes us. Bounce back Izzy.

Our whole team is taught, imo, to get the shot off no matter what and hope for the make and possibly a trip to the line.

She had a bad game. She missed lots of shots she normally makes. If you noticed though ND did a good job of making her counter her moves and go back and finish with her left hand. And she did not finish them. It had nothing to do with physicality. In fact, ND was not even that physical. Harrison is slight in frame but she is a physical player.

Go up strong and shoot easy.
Our post players often do the opposite, hence the missed layups.

Also, we have to take the open shots that are given to us--especially close to the basket. If you have an open 8 or 12-foot shot, take the damn thing. Instead, Graves and Harrison and Burdick often hesitate, and sometimes they want to try and dribble closer to the basket, which usually doesn't end well. The shots were there for Izzy--she'll do better next time. Graves needs to continue to be confident and aggressive offensively--take shots, if they are there, and don't worry about missing them. Of course, she should have started playing like this last year--take your lumps early in your career. She needs to learn to be quicker and more explosive in the paint when she gets the ball, like Izzy. But we can't complain about her game last night--she was good.

Harrison's best season will be her junior season she has regressed as a Senior. She is missing shots she made as a junior and her percentage for a post player is dreadful this season.

This.

It's been going on all season. She has been playing out of position her entire career. She is a #4, that could sub some minutes in as a #5. Add in her knee issues and the brace. It appears she is rushing the shot because she doesn't trust her quickness and elevation. You and I are on the same page with this.

As in football with Jimmies and Joes - this is primarily a recruiting thing. Give Holly a couple more years and see where they are. But as far as playing ND goes - they simply have to stop the backdoor and pick & roll. That has been going on for years and there is very little excuse for not being prepared and executing on D. If they still score when executing the D right, well, you've done your best.

With Izzy's issues I find it silly to continue to route the offense through her like they did last night. They needed more 3's to keep up with ND. That should have been a half time adjustment IMO. More inside out, less outside in. Live or die with Massengale, Carter, Burdick, etc. outside and count on Harrison and Graves for rebounds and put backs.

As I said in another post I think her problem is between the ears. She started off bad this year with the injury and was out. And, when she comes back teams focus on her and she lets the refs get between her ears and she gets all freaked out during a game and acts like she is going to have a nervous breakdown. And, lately she has gotten into all this gyrating and ball faking and all this motion is messing up her shot. She needs to just catch and shoot like Cierra has been doing. I think this pressure of preseason All American is getting to her and she is not handling it well. She seems to be more interested in posting on Instagram and Twitter and communicating with her honey. If she, our senior leader, has a good game yesterday we win. Period.

If this were like men's hoops, and there was millions to be had at the next level, Izzy would be an example of a player who would have lost a lot of money coming back her senior year. The book is out, and good teams can exploit her weaknesses.

I've noted season her best role is in the secondary scoring role. Simmons, for all her faults, took a ton of pressure off her last season. It should be obvious to all Izzy can't handle being the go-to player. She is soft. Rough her up early and she gets that constipated look on her face the rest of the game. I don't know why there is so much surprise at all the gimmies she missed in this one. She's been missing them all season. What's unfortunate is I think her game would really take off playing alongside Deshields, but she will never get that opportunity.

Time for fans to admit what she is.... a good player. Not an All-American. Not the best post player in the country. Not a player who can carry this team to a Final Four.....

You are right we do not have that "IT" go to player. The top teams seem to have that one player. Nared looked tough in the only all star game I say her play. I saw Middleton in two games and she seemed to play tough. Izzy is anything but soft. Last night she rushed her shots.

They say that players reflect the personality of their coach. I can see that in UCONN, Baylor, Louisville, ND and South Carolina but really can't say that I have figured out Holly. The question is will she promote tough play? The women's game is more in you face and physical than it was in years gone by.

I am watching a replay of USC and Florida and USC is loaded with freshmen players that play tough and in your face. I am very suprised that neither Nared or Middleton have not been major contributors.
