Funny how you use the EXACT arguments to support your opinions when it benefits your narratives but when, once again, that EXACT argument is used against you it holds no weight.God created great players. He was a product of the talent around him.
It's no coincidence his worst year was when he didn't have NFL talent at every position..
His freshman year he threw over 100 passes less with more tds and less ints.
His sophomore year with basically one game more of passes , 44 more, double the tds and only two more ints.
CC was a great game manager who benefited from better players around him.
Give Dobbs his teams and we win at least one NC.
I say is arm strength is just average for a D1 Qb. Nothing special and certainly not NFL caliber.JG has a better arm than Dobbs. Dobbs was a much better player with his arm and running ability combined. Also processed a lot faster. JG has a NFL arm though. I don't think that has ever been a question. He needs the mental part to improve and get some help from the team. He has the arm.
It is possible to be an NFL quarterback with average arm strength. Having said that, I see nothing exceptional or NFL quality about JG at this point. I didn't with Dobbs either, but he was an elusive runner, smart, and made decent decisions.I say is arm strength is just average for a D1 Qb. Nothing special and certainly not NFL caliber.
I agree. Dobbs was a playmaker. Certainly an ability that JG has not shown so far.It is possible to be an NFL quarterback with average arm strength. Don’t gf et me wrong, JG can throw a long floater if he puts two or three steps into it but all D1 Qb’s can do that I was more impressed with the zip on the ball with the few opportunities Maurer and Stout had last year. There is absolutely nothing special about JG’s arm strength at the college level. He is a run of the mill subpar D1 Qb. You continue to see things that few on this board see.JG has a better arm than Dobbs. Dobbs was a much better player with his arm and running ability combined. Also processed a lot faster. Shrout appeared to me to have the best arm, but would try to throw it in a window the size of the opening in a mailbox. He was a little too optimistic about where to throw it.Don’t gf et me wrong, JG can throw a long floater if he puts two or three steps into it but all D1 Qb’s can do that I was more impressed with the zip on the ball with the few opportunities Maurer and Stout had last year. KTK- I will address 2 separate posts/ statements by you in one post .Most overrated.
Look at that Jr year.
Anyone who would even consider uttering that JG is a better quarterback, in any universe or by any metric, than Casey Clausen is just a willful liar with no regard for the truth (and probably also either closely related to JG or his girlfriend). Dobbs isn't in the same universe as Clausen...JG barely plays the same position.Because they were terrible. CC was not a bad player. He was pretty good not great.
There is a reason that even though he beat all those teams Dobbs and probably JG will have more of an NFL career. Tyler Bray was better too.
I never said he had nothing to do with wins. He did, he managed the game really well. Not a great individual player though.
In defense of the other 2 mentioned, and not to take away from Clausen, he was surrounded by a much better team than the other two.Anyone who would even consider uttering that JG is a better quarterback, in any universe or by any metric, than Casey Clausen is just a willful liar with no regard for the truth (and probably also either closely related to JG or his girlfriend). But K town has said in the past that qb A that plays on a bad team and put up numbers equal to or even better than qb B that plays on a championship caliber team holds no weight in comparison to individual talent. Now, given his stance on said qbs for THIS particular discussion, it’s a different ball game. Dude talks out of both sides of his mouth quite a bit.In defense of the other 2 mentioned, and not to take away from Clausen, he was surrounded by a much better team than the other two.
He is deceptively fast. He's a big kid. So he's durable, and doesn't play scared. He has great pocket presence. Meaning, he feels the pressure, and has an uncanny knack for moving, just enough to avoid pressure, get into passing lanes, and complete passes. His coaches say he has eyes in the back of his head, and is very good at audibling into plays that move the chains. He has no ego, and isn't ashamed to audible into a running play. He reminds me of Peyton or Tom Brady. If you blitz, you had better get to him, or your in big trouble.Does anyone know his speed? Is he going to be a straight pocket passer? In college the ability to scramble is so important.
