lol like i said, because our QB was good. hell i was 1st team all-state that year, and i'm not any good at all.

This is funny. Made all-state and no good, LOL. Where did you play? In Alaska, Idaho, or one of the Dakotas? All-State and no good? Come on man.

to address the friend thing, friend would be a generous term. I played with the kid for three years, i saw and talked to him on a daily basis, and we weren't enemies. We weren't really friends either, just kind of aquaintances, but for the purpose of the arguement i called him my friend. lol does that clear it up for everyone?

Sounds like this guy must have done your sister/girlfriend.

Rivals ranks this thread as a .25*

Pitch in the towel man.

Ignorant post, IMO. So you're gonna base all of Rivals rankings off of "some guy you know." If you base it all off one player, then Nick Fairley was 5.6. Anybody ranked that or higher is going to be an NFL player.

Lance Thompson loves Harris. He has the potential to be a great LB. Dooley said he already weighs 235. Our heaviest LB this year was 225.

Devrin is being brought in for special teams. If you don't think our special teams is worth a scholarship, then you didn't watch any UT football this year. He's ranked low because he's not an every down player, but we're not bringing him in to be that.

Carson is a hoss. Hasn't been playing football long and Dooley has reiterated again and again our need for size. 6' 330 helps that.

IMO they will also try to work him into some open space and one on one type plays, but he is definitely a situational type player.

Sorry if this didn't need a new thread, but i didn't want to post it in each of their threads. Anyways, I know i will get flamed for this and most will think it does not matter, but each of these three guys is rated a 5.5 or lower on rivals.
I know these comparisons arent always correct, but my friend from high school last year is a 5.5 who signed with Vandy. All i am gonna say is that if they are the same caliber players as the friend i played with last year, don't expect much from them... JMO :peace2:

Hope they are really just hidden gems!

Harris will play a lot more football at Tennessee than Askew. Compare those ratings

Steven scheu is a legend of Indiana high school football. He will be an All-Sec TE and possibly all-american. He will go on to play in the league. What a joke of a thread. If harris, young, and carson turn out ot be half as good as this guy already is we will be very, very lucky!!!! And that's all I have to say about that.

I didnt jump off anything.

This is a big day for these kids. They have never been on our field, yet are now in our fold. They want to be part of or family. Until they show they have no business here or act like turds, they're Vols.

For my money, this is the best class we have had in years and the first time we've got a group that will overshoot its billing.

Now, stop being and idiot just because you know somebody that went to Vandy.

aka i wasnt bashing any of these guys at all, just saying i hope they are better than the dude i play with even though they are rated the same. Not judging, just saying based off of their ratings, i hope they turn out better.

Just going to give two names: Carl Pickens and Nick Rivez

Walk ons. Pickens left for the NFL a year early and was an All American. Look at he passion that Big Nick displayed during his time at UT. You take a chance on some kids. I would rather have these lower ranked players give their all for the vols for 4-5 years than Brice Brown and the other highly ranked thugs any day.

I play at a D3 school in Indiana. It's Indiana football bro. All-State doesn't always mean you're a world beater. I just happened to have a lot of interceptions on a team that played for a state title and got a lot of recognition.

Young's role: Catch the ball and make the 1st guy miss. That's it. Period. If he can do that, his scholarship was much deserved.

I get the stargazers point of view and respect it. That being said the coaches see something in these kids to offer them. DY is a freak with the ball in his hands. Carson is of great size and hopefully has a mean streak. Have you seen Harris' highlights? Harris may very well end up being as good as any LB we have. I don't intend to come of as a recruiting guru but I trust the professionals we do have.

Each has a purpose with the staff. They could be a surprise or they could just be special teams players. Won't know for a while. Regardless, they are the kinds of guys that are a foundation and at the very least won't embarass the school, lol.

Dt on special teams...yeah...right...

lol a physical freak? hes big. not fast, low football IQ, goes down easily on contact, soft as hell. I played with him for 3 years. the kids 6'6 240 and didn't even get to play on the bball team because he was too damn soft.

it really sounds to me like somebody is just pissed and felt ripped off that theyre "friend" got a d-1 offer and they didnt. yeah it might be vandy but hes got great size that u just cant teach and apparently was decent enough to get a sec scholarship. i hope you dont consider this guy a good friend cause if so your a freaking backstabbin bastard. id hate to have a "friend" rip into my skills in an unrelated thread viewed by tons of ppl. your comparisons dont make a lick of sense. you should probably just stop before you make yourself sound even more idiotic

So in summary.... Friend who sucks grades out at 5.5 and plays D1, OP plays D3 and is pretty much calling out friend then questioning the talents of Harris, Young And Carson based on the opinion of said D1 friend being soft?

Indianavol, you probably should avoid the strip after dark.

no, im not. i didn't want to play D1 football unless it was at Tennessee, and ummm yeah right. No, i dont consider him a good friend, and all i did was say the honest truth about him. The kid has no idea this website even exists, and he probably doesn't care what i say about him. the only comparison i made was their rivals rating, which are all almost the exact same, so im not sure how it doesnt make sense?

i never questioned their talents. i havent watched anything related to Carson or Harris. Just claimed that i hope they are higher caliber players than my "aquaintance" is. Me playing D3 ball has nothing to do with it, and i was not the only person on our team calling this kid out. People don't like it when the 6'6 240 kid breaks about as many tackles as the 5'8 160 kid.

Tennessee passed and you went straight to D3? LMAO!!!

lulz i never claimed that i expected a UT offer genius. learn how to read. I went D3 because its a great academic school, and the D2 offer i got was a crappy school. get a life.
