The best view was the skycam shot, which really made it seem like a video game move.

If anyone has tech experience, any animated.gif of that move from the 'QB view' would be sweet.

None... Ingram... Your wrong.Your talking about Hardesty having a good game tonight. Reality check!!! Ingram averaged 5.5 ypc against you guys which is more than Hardesty is getting right now. He is still #2 behind Tebow as of Thursday morning. No brag, just fact. For your information, I do think Hardesty is a very good, tough back and will get drafted in the NFL.

Tider, I'm certain most of us would agree that Ingram is the best back in the SEC. But I definitely think Hardesty is a close second. Remember Hardesty is doing all this behind an Offensive Line with 2 walk-ons and a redshirt Freshman. Bama's OL is MUCH better than TN's.

That's true. But all the same, I'd have to say that Ingram may be the best running back that I've ever seen. His balance is amazing--he seems to bounce off of defenders like he's in a pinball machine. He does stuff in college that I couldn't do past elementary school--hit five people and keep on running.
Ingram has a smoothness that no one else can touch.
He's definitely better than Tebow, who's more a product of his offense than his own sheer talent.
The thing about Ingram is that he almost consistently at least doubles the yards that he should be able to get out of a run. If the line gives him 3-5 yards, he'll get 10+. It's amazing. And anyone able to step back and watch him play (without prejudice or bias) would agree.

All I'm saying is that he's had some (a lot of) runs that I've never seen any other running back pull off before. I've seen plenty of backs pushing through and hit hard, but the agility and ability to just bounce off people and step out of tackles is amazing.

I'd like to see who else you think compares. (And I'm talking about plays, not statistics)
(note: I'm not a football expert, so when I say I'd like to know/see other running backs who pull off what he consistently pulls off, I mean that I really would like to know/see.)

Have you ever seen Adrian Peterson play? Seriously? Ricky Williams in college? Reggie Bush in college? Jahvid Best? Joe McKnight? But to sum this portion up, watch Adrian Peterson, and pull up some Barry Sanders video. Quite frankly, if you haven't ever seen anyone do what he is doing, you haven't watched too much football. Mark Ingram is a little over rated IMO. I can't say he is better than Montario Hardesty.

See while people are throwing stats in (this isn't directed toward you), here is a stat. Before Tennessee's bye week, Hardesty had more yards than Ingram. Then Mark Ingram had two outstanding games against nobodies and they kept feeding him the ball. Mind you, these games were against the great rushing defenses of Ole Miss and South Carolina.

I can see everyone's argument that Ingram is the best back in the SEC. This is a legitimate argument, but it is one that I do not agree with.

Is this your first year of watching college football?

I'm so happy for Hardesty. He's reaching Tony Thompson like status in my eyes, and more importantly for him, all the draft scouts. If he has this form in the combines, Hello Round One.

I appreciate your fair-minded post. And I think that you're completely correct.
I haven't watched much football (and I didn't mean to sound like I thought that I had), and you are relevant in that I only really only started watching Alabama (I think) when Ingram started to tear it up.
I suppose what I should have said was that Ingram is one of the best running backs in (very) recent memory. My main point is that he has often made some plays that are jaw-dropping--just some of the situations/tackles that he breaks and gets out of are unreal. It's like he's made of soap. And I haven't seen anyone do that consistently this year.
Thank you for the names --I look forward to watching videos.

I'm just saying that Alabama is now the team that ESPN loves, I swear, I live in California and all they ever talk about on the radio/tv is Southern Cal, Alabama, and all of Florida's offense...oh wait, that's Tebow!! Tennessee has some great players such as Berry and Hardesty and they may get their name mentioned once on an ESPN highlight, but Tebow and Urban Meyer is all they ever talk about, and Ingram at Alabama is a good player, but hell Ronnie Brown for the Dolphins gets alot of yards in the "wildcat offense", which is the way Ingram gets 80% of his yards. Its must be frustrating for these guys at UT playing in a traditional offense, which is what will get them in the NFL, seems to get penalized because they don't run some sort of gadgety offense like the wildcat or spread option read. Doesn't it just seem weird that a quarterback just broke the rushing touchdown record over a tailback!!!
Dang, you're just down the block from me... :)
Thought I was the lone Volfan out here in the Inland Empire (Riverside).

The beauty of the move wasn't in the spin, it was the fake right in to the spin in about 1/100th of a second that made it a special play. 10 more NFL teams wrote Hardesty's name on their board last night.

He shouldn't get the record for it just like the homerun record should still be Ruth's. The people who break them do it in more games and over a longer period of time.

What was funny about the play, was the defender bracing himself for the BIG hit, that never happened. Dude ended up doing the splits, cause he had no clue where Hardesty was going.

Breakin ankles, and pullin groins. Great move MH.

#5 on the "ESPN Top Play" list. Unfortunate that there were a lot of legit fluke plays this week. Still, that was about as pretty of a spin move as you'll see. That seriously might have bumped Hardesty up to a 2nd Rounder... to possibly improve to 1st Round if he has a good Combine and puts up big numbers through the season.

Go to espn.com plays of the weekend, its number five. The move was slick, he made them look stupid. What a game he had.

That spin move was just sick.

it was sick BUT, #17 on our team wasnt himself all night, on the spin move Culliver had his entire head down trying to make a tackle and Hardesty just rolled around him. also another play was Hardesty around the corner and Culliver could see where he was going, he didnt get blocked and he backed up ran to the side line and barely even pushed him out, it was a very poor effort on our behalf, we didnt play physical at all, it made me sick!

The Cocks were tired of getting continually plowed by that point. Most physical game of the year for TN and SC had all they wanted.
