Hard to let go

Today was a very special day for me. My son Dennis started Head Start. Me and Laura dressed him and got his Backpack ready and put him on his bus. I hugged and kissed him and said bye. The bus drove away and I got choked up.

t was so bittersweet for me. My boy isnt a baby anymore. He doesnt need me for everything now. He is getting a little more independent each day. I know that one day he wont need me at all. Time flies by so fast. It seems like yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital.

What a day. Thought I would share it with you all.

Nice post...I know what your gettin at with the kids, but you'll have grandkids too.

My daughter started Middle School this year. On the first day, she looked so....LITTLE. I couldn't help but cry. Now she loves it and is more grown up every day. I know how you feel. :cray:

My 3 year old started preschool last week for the first time. It was tough. What made it harder was she is the baby. You were brave, you put yours on the bus!!!! My 1st grader still dont ride the bus. LOL

My daughter only rides the bus from my school to the middle school with only kids from our school.

My little one (lol) is 12 and in the 6th grade this year. It was still hard after having him home all summer on that first day of school. We got to spend some good quality time together this year. So no matter how old they get, it is still hard to let go. Good post lazy4163, glad you shared.

Great post. Don't worry, he will always need his dad. You get independent for a while but you never lose touch. That's one of the reasons I'm so glad fball season is here. I just think of all the games we have spend in the stands together and can't wait to sit with him again at the Cal game. Take a picture and tell him about it when he gets older, it will mean something to him I promise.

I feel ya. Son is eight going on thirty. He has just stopped holding hands and won't allow mom to kiss him bye when leaving for school. Enjoy the small things which turn to big things later while you can.

Mine started Pre-K on August 1. My wife drops her off and I pick her up......she's not riding the Twinkie for some time.

Thanks a bunch guys. It is just hard letting go sometimes.

He had a blast yesterday and couldnt wait to go back today. I am one proud Papa:)
