That seems to have no support from the athletic department or the coaching staff.

Every video I see is someone saying "It is going to be tough", "It is going to take some time, etc."

I understand it is going to take some time but now that we are taking 9 win teams off the schedule and stuff it makes me feel as if it is going to take even MORE time to be a contender. I mean it is an ACC team for crying out loud.

Why did we schedule UNC when Kiffin was the coach? Did we have more confidence when he was the coach or something? I am sure that is what he will be telling everyone.

Huh, I never have a hard time getting excited over UT Football..... Who gives a sheet if we play UNC or not? I don't see the big deal.....

UNC was scheduled when Fulmer was coach. These schedules are put together way in advance. We have Oklahoma coming up in about five years and I can't remember who else is out there. This UNC thing is ridiculous!! I have not heard one viable reason as to why we should NOT play UNC.

I support this team no matter what, let me say that first. But its no secret that we aren't up to par with expectations right now. I would rather have a Guy that comes in and realizes that we have needs to fill and does what he can to fix them. This coast hing staff does support the team. If they didn't then they wouldn't be out there busting a$$ everyday with the players trying to make them better.

I am talking the perception from the media. Tired of all the negative publicity. I don't think we are scared of UNC. I think our athletic department just has no confidence in the team and would rather soften the schedule. The question is, why now? What has happened recently to make them want to remove them from the schedule at this time?

When Kiffin was the coach we had no problem with them on the schedule but all of a sudden they are too much?

That is what is being talked about on the ESPN forums and I just figured I would let everyone in on that.

That is what I get for going to the ESPN forums. :)

Also, I didn't say I wasn't excited over UT football. Hell I couldn't stop watching the UT vs UF game when we were losing by 30 with 5 min to go because I still thought we had a chance ;p

there are many Tennessee fans about to be in for a rude awakening.. the next few years, and depending on how well we can get players in with comparable talent as our SEC rivals, or next decade could be very, very tough on many of you..

I've seen this movie before.. 1975 through 1984...

I feel better about the whole situation now that I am away from the ESPN boards. lol.. I wish we would just move UNC to the end of the schedule though. I just think the UNC game was just in a bad place on the schedule.

Have you been keeping up with their recruiting recently? They are not in the AL or FL league...but they could play with several SEC teams....Of course, that will soon change, as it so often has in the past.

Does it mean we are scared? I doubt it but it does mean we have another home game next year and about 3 million more dollar in revenue we probably can use it to help with renovation's going on and the loss of ticket sales from this year. It does mean more money in a very tough economy.

Yeah, but they were still fun to watch and we came out in droves!

I dont think we are removing UNC from our schedule b/c we are afraid of them. UT has historically always played very tough schedules. Very curious to know the REAL reason.

"Next decade"? There's no excuse for Tennessee to ever be as bad as we were then for that long. A ham sandwich ought to be able to rebuild UT at least to the point that we're a mid-tier SEC team rather than a potential bottom feeder. There are no guarantees for anything beyond that, of course, but barring some kind of serious NCAA sanctions, I can't see any reason why we shouldn't expect to be built back up to at least a base level of competence within one cycle of players. Why should we be worried about a decade in the wilderness?

you don't have to be worried. its just football not a reason to "worry".

As far as why, because it is possible. We get into a mode of changing out coaches every 4 years or less, that is exactly what will happen.

It is possible for it to got he other way also but right now trend is not that way...
