Looks like it could be a possibility.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)—Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh was meeting Wednesday with the San Francisco 49ers about their head coach vacancy, a person with knowledge of the situation said.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the interview wasn’t made public. Harbaugh returned Tuesday night to the Bay Area from a 40-12 Orange Bowl victory over Virginia Tech in Miami that gave the Cardinal a program-best 12-1 record. He now must weigh his options, which appear to be many.

I hope that they sign him. I loved the 49ers as a kid (Montana, Craig, Rice, Lott, Young, Walsh, Seiffort, Marriuci) but this organization is in shambles. There is talk that if they don't get Harbaugh, then they might sign Josh McDaniels, which would be unbelievable stupid. I'd rather have Tom Cable than McDaniels.

Harbaugh was my #2 choice, only because I wanted Gruden......This team has to do something between them and the Canes, well the 80s are getting harder to remember.

I heard that he has two other interviews set up. Can't remember who exactly. Maybe Miami and Denver. And, Michigan is still out there.

i think it was reported last night that he wouldnt take another coaching job in college. He would stay at Stanford if he remained a college coach. Also it was reported that Michigan was looking more at other candidates then tryin to woo Harbaugh. Of course those are just Media reports.

The fact that he met with the Niners last night for 6 hours tells me he's more then just interested in that job. You dont meet with somebody for 6 hours just to say no. I think he'll listen to Miami and Denvers offers but weather better then Denver and staying close to home over Miami will probably factor in better then Niners.

They aren't in shambles, they need a coach, a QB and then some minor pieces. There is no way in hell that Josh McDaniels coaches the Niners.

If I had to guess right now, they are going to either a) exceed the Dolphins offer, b) throw a good sum of money at Bill Cowher or c) go the coordinator route after a Perry Fewell or Mornhinweg (you guys can laugh at that one all you want, but when somebody finally gives him another chance, he is going to blow the **** up)

I actually just read that the Niners are looking at Brian Billick now as well. I would take that in a heartbeat.

I don't want that cancer anywhere near my team.

just wondering what people think of him. i think fisher was right about him but wondered if everyone else did too.
they clearly need a qb so who are you thinking they try and get?
how likely is billick?

Dunno, heard his name for the first time today. QB wise, I think they make a run at Vick if the Eagles inexplicably neglect to hit him with the franchise tag or Kolb if they do. Draft-wise, with Luck staying at Stanford it will be interesting to see what happens with the picks ahead of the Niners. Looks like a bunch of folks need a QB. I would love to see them land Blaine Gabbert, but he might be the best QB in the draft now that Luck is out, so that might be a stretch.

Billick wouldnt be bad. I honestly thinking Cowher goes to Carolina since Cowher lives in the area.

I think that you are in denial. They have been in shambles since Debartalo lost the team and the Yorks took over. No NFC West titles, no significant playoff victories....The Yorks have driven this team into the ground....Erickson, Nolan, Singletary....bust, bust and bust. Alex Smith...nope. They have some good players to build around, but haven't produced anything. Even the Raiders are better than them.

Trust me, you do not want Blaine Gabbert unless you have 2 to 3 years to develop him. He is not ready. He didn't throw that many TDs this year. I think that he is a bit over-rated. Watched him play a lot this year.

I may well be in denial, but they aren't the Lions or the Bills. Hell they played well in all but a couple games this year, the Qb play simply killed them.

It's going to take a bit to develop any QB. Gabbert has the tools, and that comes from one of the biggest missouri haters to whom you will ever talk. I would take him over Newton and Mallett for sure
