234 years ago, the founding fathers were on the verge of signing a document that changed the world. They put their own necks, litteraly, on the line for a cause, and that cause is freedom. This simple phrase, more powerful than any bomb we have dropped or could ever drop.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed

Whose fault is it that our celebration of said self evident rights lands on a Sunday this year? What the hell were they thinking?

2. That's not at all what Washington actually looked like. (The Dollar is also waay off)

Powerful, powerful stuff. We are the first country in the world that allowed men to govern themselves, let's get back to it.

I would love for the founding fathers to be able to give us a read on how they think we are doing.

In fact, I would love to take them all to Hooters for wings and beer and argue with Ben that all cats are NOT gray in the night!

Once I leave work today, I probably won't have much chance to get on VN, so I wanted to be sure to wish everyone a happy Independence Day weekend. Celebrate liberty because you still can and enjoy the company of your loved ones!!!

I plan to celebrate with friends and family, do some grilling and chowing down, and then some target practice to celebrate my right to bear (and bare) arms. :machgun: :gun:

P.S. - A thread about celebrating Independence Day does belong in the Politics forum, IMHO.

Agreed. Grill some burgers, drink some beer, hate some British and have fun being American. Above all, be safe everyone.
