Best Head Coach of all time.

"Everyone thinks I'm the best damn coach in the country. But (Neyland) taught me everything I know."In seven attempts, Bear Bryant never defeated General Neyland."I never beat him," he said, "but I learned a lot from playing him."At General Neyland's retirement banquet, Bryant muttered "thank God the old guy finally quit."

Bring it Bammers...defend your Bear after that!

Poor guy has been spinning in the grave for quite a while....he needs some rest.

Let's not bring up where he was born.

Bryant never coached against Neyland while he was at Bama. Bryant was at Kentucky when he faced Neyland.

Doesn't take anything away from the General it is just an ignorant statement by UT fans when they point this towards Bama fans.

I wouldn't call it ignorance. When is the last time you heard a Kensucky fan claim Bryant? Bryant's name is most commonly associated with Bama. He's a god to them. The fact that he never beat the General gets under their skin - even if his losses ocurred elsewhere.

:good!:

It is ignorance from the fact that most UT fans think Bryant made that statement and went winless vs Neyland while he was at Bama...to your point about his name most commonly associated with Bama.

That's all I was saying. It's all good.

Happy Birthday, General. Wherever you are, I hope you can see how many people still love the Vols and support them.

(P.S. Please help Coach Dooley this season and instill your motivation in our players. Thanks be to the God of Vols. Amen) :)

Peach,

Nicely said. As much as the General stressed the kicking game I'd say he'd give Dooley a "kick" in the pants considering our ST issues.

True. Maybe he can give Palardy that extra something. Neyland also loved the defense so maybe he can give them a push.

Wait a minute...

I think I know how we got McCullers :)

I honor of the General Neyland's 120th birthday, I recommend that all coaches, if they haven't already, read the Art of War and study the tactics of General Moltke the Elder. General Neyland was legendary for using battlefield principles and tactics in the game of football. Just think, all General Neyland ever promised UT fans was that he would never lose to Vandy. :salute:

Self-fulfilling prophesy may also work, i.e. "we will beat Bama." I think a good qualification for a HC is one that would make this his personal maxim.

Take your holier than thou attitude and shove it up your ***.

Bama fans claim him, therefore I direct it towards them.
