"Everyone thinks I'm the best damn coach in the country. But (Neyland) taught me everything I know."In seven attempts, Bear Bryant never defeated General Neyland."I never beat him," he said, "but I learned a lot from playing him."At General Neyland's retirement banquet, Bryant muttered "thank God the old guy finally quit."
Best Head Coach of all time.
Bring it Bammers...defend your Bear after that!
Bryant never coached against Neyland while he was at Bama. Bryant was at Kentucky when he faced Neyland.
Doesn't take anything away from the General it is just an ignorant statement by UT fans when they point this towards Bama fans.
I wouldn't call it ignorance. When is the last time you heard a Kensucky fan claim Bryant? Bryant's name is most commonly associated with Bama. He's a god to them. The fact that he never beat the General gets under their skin - even if his losses ocurred elsewhere.
:good!:
Happy Birthday, General. Wherever you are, I hope you can see how many people still love the Vols and support them.
(P.S. Please help Coach Dooley this season and instill your motivation in our players. Thanks be to the God of Vols. Amen)![]()
Peach,
Nicely said. As much as the General stressed the kicking game I'd say he'd give Dooley a "kick" in the pants considering our ST issues.
