Hammered on ESPN

We already are "hands off and toxic" within the coaching fraternity. The reason is that these coaches talk amongst themselves and dislike booster,(Haslam specifically), trying to control decision making, mainly hiring assistants. In the NFL a coach answers to a GM, only or expects it to be that way. In college, a coach expects to answer to an AD, only. Any good coach, looking at UT is going to check out the pecking order and associate Haslam with the Browns and one of two things will happen. 1. "Thanks, but no thanks." 2. The coach is gonna ask for an astronomical salary for all the BS.

This is and will continue to be UT's major problem. Haslam is the very reason Currie is our current AD. All Vol fans who follow close enough expected D.Blackburn to be the logical choice followed by Fulmer who has little experience as an AD.

There are rumors that many UT boosters are very fed up with Haslam's antics and are trying all kinds of "ways" to put a stop to it. This in house fighting is hurting UT's football program which is the schools bread and butter. The truth is it can get worse before it get's better. The highest ranking UT official without ties to Haslam has to intervene or the majority of boosters who are aware of what is really going on need to pull together and put an end to this in house fighting. It's very sad that these men don't care. The fans have a voice in this matter. It would be good to see the fanbase unite, identify the true problem, and do something in the best interest of the student/athletes who are being impacted negatively by this ongoing, immature fiasco.

Great post. This is the real story that should be exposed.

I know that money makes the world go around, but why would anyone who wants to rebuild a quality program listen to anything the owner of the Cleveland Browns has to say. Since Haslam has been around as the key booster for the UT athletic program, what has been the result? The result has been that UT is replacing coaches and athletes about as quickly as they do in the Browns organization. Now, with this debacle, UT looks totally incompetent just like the Browns. I hope BIG ORANGE doesn't fade and continue to look more BROWN with each passing year.

**** ESPN. Who cares? this has galvanized a polarized fanbase. Im proud as hell of the fanbase for making the right call. Shame on anyone who thought Shiatno was a good hire.

Fruck ESPN!! This TN football! They can just keep there opinions in the bathroom at ESPN!! Our team!!! Our business!!!

Diehard fans that still think that this is a football school should smell the roses.
Our main rivals are now KY and Vandy. The next bargain basement hire will not bring this program back to greatness.
We haven't been relevant since the early fulmer years.
I just accept it now.

I do think we will need to base salary at 6 to 7 mil or 4 for someone like tee. Tons of work to do now

The AD got us into this mess by even considering Schiano. This is what the articles looked like when they thought we were hiring him:

Tennessee Poised To Hire Loser Coach Named In Child Sex Investigation - Outkick the Coverage

Then this is what they look like after not hiring him:

Kirk Herbstreit criticizes Tennessee fans for reaction to Greg Schiano news

It was a no-win situation. The AD should have figured that out long before this point. But he couldn't because he is just a puppet for the Haslams, who screw up everything sports related that they touch.

Schiano was a member of the scraps so whomever we get will be just the same or better than he was.

I used to go to the ESPN website all the time. I slowly have been stepping away from ESPN. I go to Fox and CBS sports more now. I finally removed my ESPN bookmarks today. I'm just done. Don't even get me started on Stephen A Smith. When did he become the oracle of all sports?

I don't care who hammers us when we are the ones standing up against child rapist. When good people stand by and ignore evil thats how the world crumbles.
