Hamilton tells secrets...

I'm a bit skeptical about his comment in the Presser that he will not be looking to go back to the NFL.

I agree IMO if he's as successful as we all hope he will be then he will be gone in 5 years. But then again he might take after Carrol and stick around if the going is good

You should be more than "a bit skeptical." I'm quite certain Lane has a career arc in mind that includes another shot in the bigs.

I liked the part about Hamilton being thorough. And him having to deal with the situation in the realistic way. Money pays for everything and when it is not there a change is on the way. Like it or not. A championship program is not to shabby either.

It's very possible he'll return to the NFL at some point. However, I think even Al Davis mentioned (in the press conference concerning the supposed letter) that he (Kiffin) wanted to pursue college jobs. So, if that's true, I expect that he may have been more focused on landing a college coaching job.

I do not have any children, but I know people are conscious about where they are raised. He mentioned moving many times himself and would like not to do that for now. Perhaps he likes the area to bring up a young family and the best way to do that is start kickin some ass.

Sounds like CLK is pretty down on USC's facilities. So a return there might only be after they significantly upgrade?

At this point, I'm more concerned over us getting to a point where we would be concerned that he left. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the hire, but before I worry about someone courting him away, I'm gonna focus my worry on getting to a friggin' bowl game!

And not the Gallery Furniture.com game at that.

In three years if we have a coach that everybody in the country wants I will be thrilled.

In regards to the coaching search, I'm convinced he had his candidate before he made the leap of letting Fulmer go.

I don't get the vibe that hes looking to return to the NFL. Who knows the NFL might not be there much longer the way the economy is going right now.

Yeah...but to get another shot at the bigs he would have to be very successful here...the league isn't going to come calling for him again unless he takes us back to national prominence...

I'm comfortable with that....I think the days of coaches staying at a place for 10+ years are over and if Kiffin does indeed get another shot at the NFL then it will almost certainly mean he has led us to at least an SEC championship and probably more than that

are necessary in my job. It's important I keep up with the pulse of the UT fans and hear what people are talking about.

The folks who post are the fan-experts...some know just enough to be dangerous...but most are well-informed and take in a lot of info themselves.

Also, some make me laugh, and that is a healthy thing to do.

My job requires me to work alone a great deal -- but when you plug into a message board, you learn quickly you are never alone in cyberspace....
