Hamilton says contract extension for Fulmer

At least they can say they've participated in a BCS bowl recently.

they can say it, but it's only a byproduct of the fact that the media camps out on their jock, do you think, really, that ND was worthy of a BCS bowl?

Guys do any of you know WHY Hamilton got hired?? The only reason he got hired was because of CPF. CPF praised him to the school and the board of trustees, so we have Fulmer to blame for his own job security. Try having to fire a guy that got you hired, that's one helluva guilt trip.

bingo

Fulmer won't be fired, the best case scenario is he is asked to retire earlier then he planned. but he has hamilton in his back pocket. he was instrumental in getting him hired.

Rumor out of Tide country is that Saban joined Spurrier, Richt and Myer and had part of the contract money earmarked towards Fulmer's contract extension!

i agree and i think that may be the reason hamilton needs to go.

Urban Meyer already won the SEC. He's already playing for the national championship. He's pulling in amazing recruiting classes What more does he have to prove?

That he can do it with his talent and his system! Right now he has been playing with someones elses recruits, and not playing his style completely. Alot of the team he has played with got their coaching from different coaches. We will see next year.

that's a fair point, to a certain extent, but he's made his impression on that program. look at the number of freshmen he's played this year...his kids. look at how much he played Tebow...his kid. they have increased the amount of the spread inserted in to the offense this year over last.

i have no problem in saying that UM has coached this team to where they are so far.

You already know how I feel about this issue, but now I put it to you.

How can Hamilton be fired??

What donor, what trustee is going to step up against the "good ol boys" as some have called them?

I do not feel like he should be fired, but I want to hear a plan for his firing, and why would we want Tennessee Athletics get to the sad point that we need to fire him?

Another good point you make Bobby. However, I do believe there is a "good ol' boy network" in existence at Tennessee just like there is in just about any other company or corporation. I just hope that Hamilton is not feeling any extra pressure to keep Fulmer at the helm as head coach just because Fulmer had something to do with Hamilton's hiring as AD. I agree Hamilton has done some positive things at UT.

i agree bobby i think we will have to have 5 years of losing football at UT before they even think of replacing hamilton. we would have to lose lots of money, that is the reason our football teams going nowhere for awhile. average is ok at UT, losing even seems to be.

In retrospect, wouldn't a pay raise be better than an extension? With an extension, he becomes a heavier weight to dislodge.

Didn't bother Old Phil when he led the coup de etale against the guy who hired him (John Majors). Would be poetic justic if Hamilton could turn the tables on the guy who hired him.:eek:lol:

I assure you that the biggest boosters need not fear reprisals for stepping up and demanding change. What are the good ole boys gonna do? give 'em their money back?

Yet, no one has come up with any names or groups on the inside that could effectively remove Hamilton, or for that matter, Fulmer.

I would imagine more disappointed than angry. Johnson and Haslam really know football, I'd say they're concerned about where this ship is headed.
How about this... maybe our boosters are too cheap...

They can run their mouths, but in the end, they don;t have the cash to pony up and do what really needs to be done.

Hamilton has done a great job in my opinion. Hired Pearl, making all of our facilities top rate, and is not afraid to spend money. Dickey wouldnt spend a dime so our facilities became very out dated.

That's not entirely true. Dickey did wonders buliding new acquatic, tennis, and baseball facilities. I do agree that Hamilton has done a good job as the AD.
