If I were Hamilton, I would be vague as well. Why say anything mid-season? What would the program stand to gain by MH saying that he was firing him after the last game of the season? Nothing.

He should pad out the fires until the end of the year and then take care of business.

Hamilton also said today that, as noted, UT is not as good a job as some would think. He said he knows that because he has been asking aroung about it(hmmmm). That isn't typical AD speak because that can easily be used against him when trying to hire a new coach. Easy leverage for the candidates. Hmmm, I thought this job wasn't that good?

Yeah, boy UT would really suck. Big money, nice facilities, great tradition, huge crowd, tons of fans, East Tennessee area, a great University, a great reputation, South Eastern Conference, a decent place to recruit (because of our neighbors). I mean ask Fulmer or Pearl how $hitty their jobs are...I'm sure they can't quit complaining. It's so obvious that Fulmer hates his job....he just won't quit after 16 years.

I really feel sorry for the poor b@st@rd that takes the job.

What a joke.

Was the emphasis on the word "like" or the word "Fulmer"?

I would like for Fulmer to write the end of his career

or

I would like for Fulmer to write the end of his career

big difference.
:)

What do you make of MH saying that the UT isn't as good of a job as the fans believe? First, what is the reasoning for that? Second, is he trying to say that we don't have a chance to nab someone from our wish-list, so we should be appreciative to have Fulmer?

I'd ask Hamilton to name 10 better coaching jobs in college football

Hat, I fear disagreeing with you, but on my mental list I couldn't add Alabama because they have the nations most fickle fan base.

But then there are 4 million reasons to get over that I guess.

Why Penn State and Alabama?

Penn State is one of the most storied programs in the country (to borrow a friends phrase), add that the the nations second largest stadium, a huge fanbase, great facilities, etc.

Alabama has as good a tradition as anyone in the country and the state of Pennsylvania produces a plethora of big time players every year.

You call Alabama fans "fickle." I think they simply demand excellence. That's not a bad thing.

I agree 100% with the Penn State pick, and am quickly coming around to the Alabama pick.

I agree 100% with that, I was thinking more along the lines of the late night phone calls, death threats, bricks in windows, etc etc.

I will say that when people say "I don't want UT to go through a Alabama coaching situation" it makes me want to laugh. My only thought is "you mean a situation where they continue to replace failures with fresh blood?"

Tradition is probably the biggest donor in college football. You think that USF gets $100,000 donations every year from nameless alum because "thats just what we have always done". . .?

Stallings was not a failure.
