Hamilton not afraid....

I will say this, if we end up 7-5 or worse, I think he's gone. The only thing I think would save his job is to win out which would include beating Alabama which I don't think will happen

Not. Fulmer doesn't need to be scared in this way. Fulmer already knows what is at stake.

Hamilton did this to alert coaches who are thinking about going to Clemson to the fact that we are looking for a graceful way to close the door on the Fulmer era. We are easing our way into the market, with hope that Clemson doesn't snatch up our first choice before we get a chance to play. Hamilton may also be trying to slow down the domino effect and encourage the Syracuses, Auburns, and Washingtons of the world not to jump the gun.

That's my read.
I said earlier in the thread, and I'll say it again.

Hamilton would NEVER have made any statements or given an interview, if discussions with Fulmer were not in progress.

I would be willing to bet, it's already a done deal. Fulmer will retire gracefully, and take his rightful place among the UT legends.

I think it's pretty clear that Fulmer era will end this year. Hamilton has stuck with Fulmer as long as he can. I don't think any of us know how it will end and when. Hopefully for Fulmer and the program it will end by a retirment annoucment after Bama game. The best thing would be to see it come after a victory over Bama. Though that isn't likely.

Either way it's Fulmer's last year on the sideline.....

I'd like to know what Hamilton intends to do about recruiting. If the decision to move on isn't already made, he has just put Fulmer in a huge hole. Even if the decision to move on HAS been made, Hamilton will need to move quickly in order to salvage the class.

Recruiting is going to suffer. No way around that. It is part of the pain that must be endured in the course of longer term improvement...

Yeah, at this point, it's as if winning out would let a lot of people down who have already made up their minds.
I think the best resolution is for Fulmer to announce his retirement effective at the end of the season. That would rally everybody around him for the remaining games to send him out well. Either way, he is probably out.

Name a good basketball coach that doesn't have a sleezey appeal:

Coach K....Looks like a perv
Calipari ....sleeze
Huggins....sleeze

It just goes with the territory.

So everyone that drinks is a sleeze? What else has he done but get a DUI? That's wrong but in no way makes him a sleeze. Don't be ignorant.

the thing is, Clemson firing Tommy Bowden killed teams like Tennessee and Auburn who have coaches on the hot seat. I think both Tennessee and Auburn would like to wait the season out and see how it plays out, but now that Clemson went ahead and canned Tommy, they're in the catbird's seat for the next batch of coaches

UC was placed on probation for lack of institutional control during Huggins' run there.

There were some things that happened. I know the family on a personal level and just don't like to see that kind of stuff being said. I do not consider him a sleeze one bit.

This article gives the appearance that the heat has been turned up a notch. Weather or not escalation has occurred remains to be seen.

Hamilton mad a huge statement with this article..
Fulmer know the pressure is on..

He admitted to everyone that he has 7 mil sittin in the bank.. So money is not a problem..

Heck Yea!

He needs to go ahead and do the deed so we get Muschamp!

P.S.! 500th Post! yyyyeeeeeaaaaahhhh!!!

GO VOLS

has Terry Bowden been mentioned as a possible replacement? The guy does know how to win in the SEC and he has to be a better recruiter than Fulmer not to mention a better coach overall.

Mainly for actions related to former UT wide receiver Tim McGee taking Charles Williams to a couple of Bengal games. Really awful stuff. Glad to see the 'AA keeping college sports safe from the scourge of guys attending professional football games.

Every time I think the quality of posts has bottomed out, someone proves me wrong.

Yeah, I bet you know a bunch of Huggs guys personally.

I know one, and if anything, Huggins was overly critical on character issues with him. He withdrew the kid's offer based on what he saw (in my opinion, mistakenly,) as a questionable character. The player went on to have a successful NCAA career at Temple and is now playing professionally in Europe.

One anecdote does not a trend make, but I thought it said something that Huggs erred on the side of the angels in this case.

EDIT: I know two. Maybe that makes a trend, as the other, who did play for Cincy, was a pretty solid citizen.
