Well...Stoops doesn't make 6Mill/yr...it's somewhere in the 4.5 ranger...but I think one year, with incentives and all, it approached 6 in total.

So, in a world where common sense rules, offering 5 with incentives to 6 would get it done...but not with all the tightwad Fulmerites in the BOT

i am a young guy but why in the world get phil jr........ get someone with some freakin energy you guys all saw volnation last year the crowd was rockin that is what you have to have these days not only to pump the current players up to win but to RECRUIT which is what we had this year It gets the recruits swag going about UT we need to establish how important football is in this sate Cut. would be like waving a white flag Get someone that pumps volnation back up I want this place rockin nxt year this is College football not pro it is what the recruits want.......... just my thought

Why are we not demanding Steve Spurrier? Think about it guys! There is no way we are getting Stoops, Gruden, or some other mega star. All the man child protege coaches like Muschamp are not gonna happen either. What we need is a HUGE name for the next 5 years. Someone who can recruit nationally and fire up Vol nation and at year 3 or 4 of his contract, go after a HUGE assistant up and coming genius and pay him 2 million a year as a "coach in waiting." This is by far out best option and scenario. For 3 million, Spurrier will be here in 10 minutes.

There is no way that anyone can sit here and tell or convince yourselves that this is a good hire. He can not be a HC and if we are going to get an OC/DC for a an HC, there are alot better. Hire Trooper at least he will make it fun and get some good players in and some excitement and then surround him with what he needs. The DC from Texas T is out there now and people like that.

This is like last call at the bar.....it's 1:58am, all the 6,7, & 8's have long since departed. At this point, any chick under 3 bills with the fewest warts or hairy moles will do. Given all the rejections, today alone, any warm body could get the gig. Cut is safe (only has 2 or 3 warts & about 250+, metaphorically speaking) but has a win ceiling of about 8. He cannot recruit with the big boys. There are no more Mannings coming down the pike. We will be relegated to a second tier SEC team for a long time to come.
Today, UT proved they are no longer a big boy in college football. La tech coach???? He's a 400 pound sow covered in warts (La tech...really?...ESPN was reporting this one). AF coach??? Double really??
The salient question is if the Florida, Alabama or LSU job opened today...would any of these guys be on their watch list? We all know the answer...NO!
A 4 or 5 star blue chip recruit has 3 coaches over on consecutive days...Meyer on day one, Satan on day 2 and Cut on day 3.....what team will he pick. I can tell you who will finish 3rd in that race..1 or 2 is up in the air. Our main recruiting competition will be the Un of Memphis, So. Miss, and NC State's of the world (no offense to those programs). 3 star purgatory, here we come. At this pace, UK is going to start feeling sorry for us. This is soooooo depressing. Over the past two days, I keep thinking "it can't get worse" and about every 4-6 hours it does!

PS:which title will be most apropriate for the coming regime....Fulmer years: Part Deux, FulmerBall the sequal, or The Fulmer spin off?

so kingsportvolfan look what a coach with energy has done pumped up recruits about UT football got the fans pumped and the players I HAVE YET TO HEAR ANYTHING LIKE THIS ABOUT DUKE ...............

if all these events take place after sighning day...the whole coaching search would be different...i think that itself has scared some good coaches away

Guys, we are not gonna get Gruden, Stoops or Dungy. Not gonna happen. We are also not going get a Kiffin 2.0, some up and coming football rising star either (muschamp). What Tennesse needs is an established coach with huge credentials and a huge name that will be here for 5 years. After year 3-4 years (1-2years from Spurriers retirement) we will then go after a Huge "coach in waiting". I say we follow Texas' and FSU's model here. Spurrier now, and land a monster coach for the long haul in 3-4 years.

Its either that or Cutcliff. take your pick.

We need to start chanting Spurrier!!!!!
