Hamilton Meeting w/ Mystery Candidate

I don't want to alarm anyone.....but i keep looking up at the sky and it seems to be getting closer and closer.

Hammy CANNOT hire Coach Cut. CAN'T.

Cut is fine, but we needed a big name to make this all go away. He's not that. If we spend big $$$ and get great assts, he could be successful, but he def needs help recruiting... Any hope Cut's just the fall back and we still may get someone else?

This is one of the few people posting here who gets it. He also coached heath Shuler. I challenged another thread to give me one stat while he was at TN that made us mediocre. Nobody could do it. Just kept bashing. Anybody wanna give me the stat we're we stunk with him on the coaching staff? Where we were EVEN mediocre? was it the 800% winning percentage. The nation championship. Turning Ainge around? I'll give you the losses to Fl that we should have won. That's all anyone has. And please dont start posting Duke stats like the other thread. He is at DUKE and has done the best job there since Spurrier.

Your point may be more engaging if it were in english.

if cut is hired, they better hold on the some of the current staff. We'll need ckb, clt, cwmg, cregg, etc to keep the recruits we currently have. Does anyone know of any big time recruits cut snagged at duke that might follow? I feel like we just hit rock bottom.

i feel same way

mystery candidate might be Lovie Smith. I'm not sure this is a good move but buzz in Chicago this might go down.

What else will these guys say in the span of 24 hours?

Last night it was Muschamp was a done deal.
This morning it was Calhoun.
This afternoon it was Cutcliffe.
And now we have "Mystery Person #1" behind the curtain.

Gawd, someone put a bullet in my head...

Kiffin did that.

If it is Cutcliffe I will puke...we don't need to go back to Fulmer. Just leave Kippy Brown in as coach if were going to do that.

I will bite. First, if he was such a hot coach, then why did Ole Miss call his bluff when he refused to fire coaches? Second, if he is such a hot coach, why does he go from OC at UT to Duke?
Third, if he has been so great at Duke, then why with all the coaching changes that have come up this year has his name not even remotely been mentioned for a single one until the UT job comes open 3 weeks before NSD, and all the connected fulmerites come out of the woodwork to force him in at UT?
The guy is old and has heart issues. I think he is a great OC. I would love to have him back as OC whomever were the HC. He can't recruit, which is not just important now, but paramount.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that this wasn't Hamilton's choice, but he is going to be the fall guy for it. I know for a fact that some very high profile ex-players have made calls pushing Cutcliffe, and some very high profile boosters are in his corner. Hamilton may not have much of a say about it. If he bucks, he is gone, if he relents, then he is the focus of any backlash. The good-ole boy network strikes again. That is the reality of Tennessee football.

No, he'll take the fall for hiring Kiffin.

I dont think many would argue he is a decent OC slash QB coach but he hasnt proved anything as a HC.If hired we go back to the stone age,WITH PF as AD I would guess.

He won SEC coach of the year there and got better every year except his last year which was rebuilding. He was also AT Ole Miss. Ole Miss is not ever going to be an elite program and is delusional to think so. Spurrier is still Spurrier but he hasn't done anything with USCjr. What about all the coaches at Miami that have left who were great? Where are they now? It has a lot to do with who you can recruit. You don't have to have a top five recruiting class year in and year out but you have to atleast have a top 15 class year in and year out and that's just not going to happen at Ole Miss.

He is a very bright offensive mind, one of the best in the college game. CDC just needs to hire a great DC and RC to get the Vols rolling again.
