Halo: The Masterchief Collection

Its a no brainer really. its an astonishing amount of content for the price. Plus 343 studios is also throwing in Halo ODST as a bonus.

To get ODST you had to own it before Dec. 19 and actually play it. If you buy it now, you don't get it unless something changed that I don't know of.

So Microsoft said the Halo ODST remaster would be made available in May for those who get it free; well it's May 25 and there's been no word on when it's coming out. Either they get it in the week they have left, or they lied.

I'm going with....they lied.

Looks like 343 is going to bungle their apology attempt with ODST. They said it would be out by in May, and unless they get it out in the next 24 hours, they messed up again.

The sad part is as much as they've completely botched MCC, Halo 5 will still sell like hotcakes.

They've led everyone on with statements saying they had separate teams dedicated to MCC and H5, but it's pretty clear they just collected everyone's money for MCC and immediately stopped giving a ****. The H5 beta got 2-3 updates a week, while MCC was flat out broken and sometimes was left for a month or more without so much as a word from 343 about what was going on.

Yep, I got the same thing. And according to Game Informer, if you didn't get it free, it's only $4.99.

It's a little odd to me that you have to download it by the end of June though.

Is ODST any good? Never played it.

If you think of it as an expansion/DLC to Halo 3, then it's good enough. The problem with the game is when it originally came out, they charged the full $60 for it, even though they had said it would be $40. The campaign is really short. I beat it in under 4 hours. Plus like Reach, you don't play as Master Chief. I believe the game takes place between Halo 2 and Halo 3.

So basically if you had paid full price back in 2009 for it, then you'd probably hate it. 6 years later remastered for $5, it's probably worth it. If you consider yourself a pretty big Halo fan, I'd get it.

So I decided to play through the entire Halo franchise since I had the MCC with ODST, and Halo Reach was a Games With Gold game. Plus I got Halo Wars for really cheap and Halo: Spartan Assault was a Games With Gold game on the XOne. I played them in release order, except for Halo Wars I played after all the others because honestly I'm not an RTS fan.

So after all that, I've determined that of the main games (6 if you count ODST as a main game, and by main I mean the FPS ones), I honestly thought Halo Reach was the best game. Granted I'm talking only single player but the single player experience IMHO was the best on it. The story was the best, and because they couldn't rely on Master Chief and Cortana's back and forth all game, it forced them to put other lesser known characters in front. I think Reach is terribly overlooked and underrated in the series, mainly because it doesn't have Master Chief.

To rank the others, the rest of the order would be Halo, Halo 3, Halo 4, and probably Halo 2. I throw ODST at the end simply because it's so short and more like DLC than a full game, but I will say playing it again 6 years later it was better than I remembered.

Halo Wars and Spartan Assault are spinoffs but they also were fun. Especially Spartan Assault. There is a sequel to it, Spartan Strike but it's not available on Xbox One or the 360 yet and I'm waiting for them to put it there. I'm assuming it will be ported later this year around the time Halo 5 comes out.

I've always wanted to sit down with friends some time and play through all of the Halo franchise in In-Game Chronological order.

Halo Wars -> Halo Reach -> Halo -> 1st half of Halo 2 -> Halo ODST -> Rest of Halo 2 -> Halo 3 -> Halo 4
