Halo: Reach

I was afraid this was going to be Halo 3.5

Am I wrong?

yeah, it's totally different than halo 3. I'm still trying to get used to the new weapons, and suck at online play right now. I'm doing well to even get 10 kills in team slayer games so far.

Got a personal best 10 kills in a match today.

I remember being ranked like 31 or something in Halo 3, but this one just seems like it has a steep learning curve.

I got 14 kills in first online game of halo ever today. The multiplayer is definatly fun.

Last night I played 3 matches (all Rumble Pit) and ended up with a K/D margin of +14 which isn't great by any means but it's pretty good, I suppose. Tonight I ended up playing a team slayer (2 guys left so it was 2 vs. 4) and 2 matches of Infection. I hate infection. Now my K/D margin is at -21. Those 3 matches (interspersed with other ones, but namely those 3) really did go that poorly.

Steep learning curve it seems and apparently I suck on all game types that aren't straight every man for himself rumble pit.

Don't sweat the K/D ratio in Halo, it's not that big of a deal like in COD.

Invasion on spyre, I own face as covy. Hologram and sword for the win.

Its hard to say what you should expect. From the very first Halo, the game has changed so much in its features. This Halo shows the most improvement on a lot of things but also there are intentional drawbacks.

Improvements include the customizing features and online gameplay (specifically in how you choose what games you'd like to play) and things like that but also, the weapons in game have been scaled back intentionally. The vehicles as well. This takes place before the first game so the weapons and vehicles should be inferior in some ways.

I feel like I'm slowly getting better at this.

Also, looks like someone has already figured out a hack for this game. 21/21 headshots. I was standing behind a wall recovering from getting shot from another player and he walks around the corner not even knowing I'm there and Boom! headshot!

This happened multiple times and even all the way across the map with pistols.

Pretty easy to get headshots with the DMR/Magnum. The DMR is far superior to the BR after playing a good bit of multiplayer. Haven't touched the campaign/forge/firefight yet, got in a few hours of matchmaking though late last night/early this morning. Love SWAT, disappointed there isn't a playlist for it yet.

The only thing that bothers me about halo is not even the game itself. It's the ridiculousness how good some of the players are. Every once in a while you play a match where you feel helpless.

That's when I remind myself I have a woman and suddenly the sorrow disappears.

Are you playing with randoms?

Flat out untrue. The BR was easy to 4-shot most anybody on halo 2 and 3, and you're lucky if you get a kill with the DMR even after 6-7 shots. It takes more hits with the DMR than even the old covenant carbine did, and has a MUCH slower rate of fire if you want to be at all accurate.

Oh my goodness. Has anyone used the power up where you can deploy a look a like? Well it's incredible on short sided maps. And absolutely hilarious.

Yeah, but I mostly use the jet pack. I don't care if I get spotted easily, it's so much fun.

Well, I mean single shot vs. burst fire. The BR is probably a better weapon. I just meant I prefer the DMR to the BR. Overall they're pretty well balanced as the DMR does more damage and the BR has a much faster rate of fire. It still only takes about 5 shots to take someone out with the DMR(headshots). It kicks ass in SWAT.

No doubt. It lays grunts and jackals down pretty efficiently on firefight too. I haven't gotten into any swat games yet, but i've been playing almost exclusively in the arena ranked games, and it's pretty much all Slayer DMR or Slayer Pro games in there.

volball, probably should've checked, but I didn't know how serious you were. One of those guys in my group hasn't touched Halo since the Halo 2 and we're a pretty chatty group and total score didn't matter a bit to any of us. Matters to some folks.

Anyway, let me know if you'd want to group with us further. We usually try to get together on Thursdays. Also, anyone else if you see me on and you've got space or whatever give me an invite. I'll usually play firefight but I am pretty much open to most gametypes.
