Former Basket-Vol, AW Davis at a local bar. Such a cool guy. He's really close with a co-worker of mine (the HC at the school I work at). They like to play cards and talk ball.

My buddy and I were bringing some kids back from a camp and decided to have a few drinks afterwards. He's such a humble guy. When he starts talking ball, though, he really opens up.

I thought those were details.

He and Johnny BS'ed for a while. Talked some ball...older stuff that was before my time. He talked about his grandson, Brandon, who is in middle school. The kid is 13 and is like 6'2. Good ball player. He'll be at Rutledge HS in a year or so. AW talked about going down to TBA for the 100 year celebration and how he didn't wanna do it. He said that he's proud of what is going on there now, but that he doesn't think Pearl will stick around.

Sounds like he doesn't care for Tennessee. Doesn't want to go to the 100 year celebration and thinks Bruce Pearl is going to bolt. Where would Bruce Pearl go exactly?

Assistant coach at Iowa. Passed up U of I.

Coached in Indiana at SIU. Passed up Indiana.

It was thought that Pearl was at the top of Arizona's list. Didn't bother listening to their offer.

In other words it will take someone like Duke, Kansas North Carolina, UCLA or UConn to lure him away. Maybe even Boston College since he was born there and was also an assistant coach there. He has already passed up schools and states he had roots to. Not to mention Indiana and Arizona are big time basketball schools that revolve around basketball. Football will always be first at UT. At this point I just don't see him leaving unless it's for one of the schools I just listed. That or the NBA comes calling. I'm not too worried about him leaving at this point. I'll believe it when I see it.

Lol - passed up Indiana? And Arizona.
The absolute delusional thinking that surrounds TCHBBCATUTK is amazing. I understand he's also turned down the Lakers, Celtics, Spanish Olympic Team, and President Obama's offer to become a Supreme Court Justice.

The case for Bruce Pearl as IU's next coach - IUplanet: Indiana Hoosier forums, sports, recruiting, photos, and Indiana University news

Dude... Arizona got turned down by coaches at smaller schools. Why is it funny that Arizona would want Bruce Pearl? Last time I checked UW Milwaukee and Tennessee both had losing records when Pearl showed up. Both schools wanted Bruce Pearl but whatever.

Apparently I am some other guy I've never heard of now..... Here is an idea. Maybe you guys shouldn't go around insulting people and accusing them of being people they aren't. Forgive me for not devoting my entire life to this board like a loser. You guys probably know more than i do so um... good for you? I wish I could be that cool.

It's ok man.

And I'm still not sure how some two meaningless message board threads prove that CBP turned down either of those schools.

How about actually posting some proof of your statements that Pearl turned both those jobs down and maybe you wouldn't get blasted. Here's a hint...what you posted isn't proof.

I like the fact that the writer he uses as his source for Pearl "turning down IU" also has a thread for Scott Skiles. I bet Skiles will be shocked to find out he turned down the IU job.

He had to be bribed to stay and not go to Memphis..

It's won't take much and if we have a another good run it won't take long..

AW Davis is also the guy I heard saying he wished they would outlaw dunking in basketball, just like it was outlawed when he played.

Read into that what you want...

Can someone prove that Pearl didn't turn down either of those jobs? Im just saying..... It's going to be very hard to prove that Pearl has or has not, officially or unofficially, turned down any jobs -- or not.

I'm not sure what difference it makes regardless.

Sorry, but if someone is making baseless claims, the burden of proof is on them.
