You can scheme up all you want, but if you cannot motivate a team to win a game to get bowl eligible then it falls directly on the coaching staff

Agree. But the problem with that statement is we don't scheme either. It's not like we are great schematically and the players just don't execute. It's been the same all year. Every single passing play is short. At this point the cat is out of the bag. Defenses are just going to play really tight coverage knowing we won't try throwing hardly anything down the field.

I agree to some extent but after a while it's on the players to have some pride in themselves and not need to
look to someone else to motivate them. If not wanting to be embarrassed by your in state rival, getting to play in a
bowl game and not finishing the regular season with a losing record isn't enough then I don't know what is.

Vols are 2-3 years away from another coaching search. I'm sure they can find another unproven HC or a coodinator somewhere who is willing to take the money. IF you can't motivate your players for a game like this, you are not the answer.

Listen up.....news flash you can't make people lead......cant make them want to play.......cant give them drive to be successful that should already be there in the type of playeryou recruit....your seeing 2 staff with almost same results.....its the players.....pruitt did better than butch but these are same kids that laid down the entire year last year that should tell you all you need to know ...this should come of no shock....seriously

I really think CJP has a lot to learn. In my view, this team has underachieved. Other than an upset of a struggling Auburn, what have we done that shows improvement?

Very poor defensive effort and preparation ..... very dissapointed in how these guys have finished .. they have given up ..they dont want anymore this year .. they have had it .. no pride ... CJP cant recruit 85 guys ... better get some of these guys motivated .. OL and DL is the name of the game and we aint gonna improve any in thet area at least for 2 more years with the talent and coaching we have now .....

Nope, he's a decent assistant and that is all. He will go three and out. The best we can hope for is that he will bring in some decent players before he gets fired.

Your name calling does nothing to add to the discussion. I’m certainly no Butch apologist but he inherited a far worse program that Pruitt inherited. What has this team done to prove to any of us that there has been improvement? Sure the Auburn win was awesome but we have been owned by MO and Vandy. That’s ibexcusable.
