We will have to have a losing season before they even think of firing Fulmer. It's a shame that they are satisfied with mediocrity:lolabove:

I have supported Fulmer for the last few years but not anymore! its time for a change.Personally I want him too step down and move too the ath dept. let someone else coach rest of year and have Hamilton look for a replacement.

Tell him thanks , I think this team can win , but not with Fulmer. Do you think Auburn will be worrying about us , or do you think they will be a bit mad , about losing such a good game as they lost last night ? There is a forum that says the Vols will still repeat in the east and face LSU in the SEC Championship game .We have the talent , just not the heart .Maybe the heart starts wiyth us the fans , and we have to find away to give it to the team , I do not think that Phil can do that .Do you ? Go Vols , don't do it for the coach , don't do it for the fans . Go Vols , win for you , find your heart as a team .:rock:

1. The standard of a praise-worthy year is 8-4. That guarantees Fulmer a raise and an extension. That is the basis of his new contract.
2. Hamilton was asked earlier in the year what would happen if TN finished 6-6. Hamilton said there would be no raise and no extension. That was it it. No firing, no changes needed, NOTHING.
3. Hamilton and Fulmer have established an insurmountable buyout clause for this year. It simply is not going to happen no matter how many losses. How much humiliation do you think it takes? Was last year's blowout losses not enough? No, they were not.
4. Fulmer is here as long as he wants to be here. PERIOD. No amount of wishful thinking is going to change that. The powers that be have decided that he has lifetime tenure--having earned it.

I think last year would have been the perfect timing for him to bow out gracefully. We got in the SEC championship game. Won the bowl game. He had to know what was coming from watching this team play.

The truth is the guy wants to keep coaching and I think he will feel this way till at least he wins another SEC Championship. Which is NEVER going to happen. Not with what LSU, UF, GA, Aub, and Alabama are doing now. We are just to far behind those schools.

Maybe he will pull a Loyd Carr. We can only hope. I honestly don't hate the guy. He had some good years. But if he doesn't find a way to bow out he will have ruined his own legacy here. That is not our fault. It's his.

I don't feel the least bit sorry for Fulmer. He's been grossly overpaid for years to run this program into the ground.
Absolutely, if he truely loves the university he should realize that he's hurting us more than he is helping anymore.

there is no way he'll get fired, even if he goes 1-11. too expensive, too many booster love fulmer. it might a couple more years before anything happens. let's just enjoy basketball.

Feel sorry for this guy??? Are you kidding. Phil makes more money in one year than the average person on this board makes in a lifetime. Give me a break. He's highly paid for a job that demands a lot of performance, and he's not performing. I think Fulmer is selfish. He's not performing and he continues to stay as he drives our program further into the ground. It's not like he's volunteering his time, he's making a crap-ton of money. Fulmer is in an occupation that requires him to perform or he's gone....and he's not performing, do the math.

Agreed. If his butt was even approaching the fire, he wouldn't have gotten an extension and a raise last year.

As much as we need a new coach with the attitude of something to prove, we will continue to see the decline of the Vols football program. I want to see Coach Fulmer placed in another position within the University. Remember, we were all on his bandwagon when things were going good. He also gave us a National Championship. How many coaches and universities can say that? We need a coach of the quality of Saban, and yes Spurrier and all the other coaches who have the fire to do the job. We need coaches at all of the SEC schools to keep the SEC the most powerful conference in college football. Fulmer just isn't that person anymore.:bad:

6/6 and Neyland half empty will get it done. I think Phil steps down "in the interest of the program" at that point.

Looking forward.....this team could easily go 2-7 the rest of the way out, finishing Fulmer off at 3-9.

Move him upstairs to head the recruiting program, make the right staffing hires...two years out the VOLs are in the top 10 again.

if we're 7-5 this year, I think he's in serious trouble

We will be lucky to be 6-6 this year if not worse. That is the sad reality. For anyone who thinks we will start looking like the VOLS we know and love this year...put down the kool aid...it aint gonna happen. Usually we have a shakey opener...then by the 2nd/3rd games we look like we should....So far this year we have looked the same every game...no improvement at all...no growth, we are in trouble and WILL NOT beat, AU, UGA, or BAMA, Vandy can very easily beat us this year and so can Kentucky.....If UK beats us for the first time in 23 years,,,,Fulmer will be in a very deep hole....

I cant see Vandy beating Tennessee....they are doing it with mirrors against also rans...none of these second level teams will..USC will be the toughest.... Mississippi St included..Defense will carry Tennessee in those..

That leaves AU ,Uga ,and UAT to deal with.. i see more of the same as yesterday..defense keeps them in next week(Auburn has an offense problem also)..but that makes them 7 better ,plus the home field..

Uga...dont want to think about it with Crompton there..

Alabama...maybe by then someone will step in and lead the offense and it is at home for what thatll be worth by then..so I think by then we have a better shot,theoretically..

smells like 7-5 to me

I agree with everyone else Fulmer had a great run at Tennessee but, It is time for a coaching change. when there are more bama fans than tennessee fans in neyland maybe we get a change. MAYBE?

If we go 8-4 he is ok, if we go 7-5 he better have the balls to step down or something for the sake of this program. anything 6-6 or less he is gone, for good.

Not that Fulmer doesnt deserve it, but Chris Low is a hack and loves piling on Fulmer, especially if ESPN is cashing big checks for him..
