Well, of course he changed it. Berry's runback and the Georgia penalty put the end zone in Dobbs range. Odds of your guy catching a Hail Mary pass is around 3 or 4 to 1.

A make it up as you go lateral play? You gotta get damn lucky for it to work, and not get a penalty called.

I think he should have tried the 59-yard field goal.....let Aaron Medley give it a ride.

Tennessee coach Butch Jones fell to his knees on Saturday and probably thanked his lucky stars when the Volunteers won at Georgia on a Hail Mary pass.
Moments before the final miraculous play happened, Jones apparently changed the call from a short pass with laterals to a jump ball in the end zone.

The call of Jones life WOW

I don't think he was "thanking his lucky stars...". I think he was thanking his Lord and Savior.

Still needs to play a complete game that doesn't have his team having to fight tooth and nail to get the win.

Thought he said someone stepped on his foot.

I just wish Shoop could have called double coverage on UGA's touchdown and not taken years off my life.

I know this is bluefont, but I said that we should just give it a try right at the end. I was immediately kicking myself in the @$$ in an extremely celebratory fashion.

Glad he dumped the chart for that one and over-rode Debord's original call.

Great, gutsy call. I love it. He laid it out on the line and let our guys make a fantastic play.

You HAVE to throw it in the end zone. It clearly gives you a better chance than throwing it shorter and lateraling. With the Haily Mary, only one guy has to make a play in the end zone whereas several things have to go right if you throw it short and try laterals--and, importantly, most of your opponents defenders will be between your receivers and the end zone if you throw it short. The Hail Mary is the only call.
