Gus Malzahn

thats exactly what I said they left because Malzahn left. Malzahn went from Arkansas to Tulsa thats not a step up. He left because his ego and attitude are way too big, and he didnt like Houston Nutt overseeing him even though he was completely unproven at the time. I lived in Arkansas through the whole Mustain recruitment all the way through last season I know what Im talkin about.

When your hired to do a job and the HC is getting in your way, then I would probably do the same thing he did in going somewhere else. Kinda like a situation that is happening at our school right now.

Malzahn had to have oversight he was only hired because of Mustain and Williams, why else in the world would you hire a guy straight out of high school to be a coordinator in the SEC. Now I agree in letting someone do his job but he needed to know his place and realize he was lucky to be in a position that he had not earned. If we hired a guy straight out of High School us fans would be irate. He should have been grateful instead Gus Malzahn is an Ahole

i think you guys are forgetting that malzahn (not maltzen as other people have called him) was one of the main reasons why arkansas went to the SEC championship in 05. hes proven that he can be on OC on the SEC level so stop saying he has no experience. i know he just came out of high school 3 years ago but personally i think its impressive that he's been so successful (especially on the SEC level at arkansas) so soon. and by the way fatboyvol the only reason mustain and damian williams left was because malzahn left. go do your research before you diss a coach.

Exactly.

I think we should without a doubt fire clawson but who should we replace him with? Gus Malzahn. This guy is a serious catch. Hes been at tulsa 2 years and has the nations top offense in both years. Before going to tulsa he help lead arkansas to an 11-2 record and the conference championship game so he's already proved that he can compete as SEC offensive coordinator. Dont tell me mcfadden and felix jones carried him b/c with Malzahn there they were 11-2 (7-1 in SEC and w/o Malzahn they were 8-5 (4-4 in SEC) with practically the exact same team. He also made the "Wildcat" or "WildHog" formation really popular and we at UT run a variation which we all know as the G-Gun. I'm not saying he should hire him as head coach but i think he'd definetley come here as our OC. Malzahn could be the spark that UT and their wailing offense desperately need.

Good grief...you accuse me of "manlove" for Kevin Steele...You don't quit. Tulsa has beaten Central Arky. He has only been out of HS 2 years. Give him time to move up the ranks like Herban Meyer (BG, Utah, and then UF). Tulsa and say next Kansas St. and after about 5 yrs. he'll be worth a look if he is successful. BTW Gruden is building a house in Ktown...I think it's a done deal and I'm a big Chucky fan. Gus was one and done at Arky.

Hell, i could have gotten Arky to the SEC championship game with Mcfadden and Jones.

obviously you couldnt have because while malzahn was there arkansas went 10-3 and the next year with practically the same offensive players, they went 8-5... i touched on this in my original post so why dont you read that before you go posting ludicrous things....

I guess you wouldn't believe that Houston Nutt has an ego as big if not bigger than Fulmer.

Houston Nutt earned his ego. Malzahn hadnt earned it at the time. I myself think that Malzahn is quite the Offensive mastermind. But like I said before, Houston Nutt gave him an opportunity of a lifetime that he hadnt earned and for that he should have been grateful. Leaving Arkansas was fine but being an Ahole and turning players against Nutt was classless and ungrateful. By the way Nutt will turn Ole Miss around and you will see he is a good coach. And as for Malzahn he did inherit quite a pair of Running Backs to work with its not like he recruited them, and tulsa doesnt exactly play the toughest schedule.

jmva1 is on Malzahn and he may turn out to be a very good coach. The point is you don't move from production Supervisor to CEO without proving yourself.
agreed. And having said what I said about Malzahn. If a classless and ungrateful coach can restore us to National Prominence then lets hire an Ahole, its working for Alabama.

That's funny! Napoleon treats people like crap and in Alabama wins will only do so much until media and fans get tired of being like trash. Narcissistic Nick will be punted if he doesn't find a way to be personable...no matter how fake it is.

Thats okay he has turned Bama around in a heartbeat and is doing it playing with some freshmen at key positions. Ingram, Hightower, Julio Jones .....great recruiting.

That's an excellent point. The Bear is still revered down there for his kind, approachable demeanor.

If you honestly think HDN GAVE Gus that opportunity, you were not paying too much attention while you lived in Arkansas.

And second, Gus has never said a bad thing about UA or HDN publicly. How can you accuse him of turning players away from UA. Damien Left because he saw the writing in the wall. He knew he wasn't going to get the catches he deserved with dmac and jones. Hell, look what he is doing at USC now. MM left because his mother stuck her nose in everything, just like she did at springdale. And HDN didn't help with how the whole Beck deal went down.

I'll say it again. Gus is a class act. He's devout christian man that knows his football. I don't care how soft your competition is, when you have the best offense in the country, you are doing something right. Former vol Tommy West plays those same teams, and we see how great he is doing! Gus will be at a big time school before long, but I am not ready for him to be in knoxville.

Nobody's complaining down in bama right now about how saban "treats" anyone. All they care about is being ranked #2 in the nation, undefeated, with a national title on the horizon. Just win baby!

We don't want or need a HS coach...Give it a rest already.
