With two rampage shootings in the news today, I got to thinking.

A major arguement I read on here from the gun crowd is based on personal protection. I ask you this:

How come you never read about an NRA member whipping out his 9 and putting one between the eyes of one of these rampage killers?

you do. just last year I think there were two store owners in Nashville that, during the process of being robbed, ended the lives of a couple of non tax payers. no telling how many lives these two guys saved.

This is your justification for the government to take a basic right away from us?

"The country already has some of the strictest gun laws in the world. Handguns are only on sale to those aged 18 or over, with heavier weapons restricted to those over 21. No weapon can be purchased legally without a firearms ownership licence, which is only available after personal checks."

Strict German gun laws fail to prevent school shooting | World news | guardian.co.uk

Looks like our gun laws aren't the problem.

Maybe because they don't want to go to jail?

Do you honestly believe that if someone had shot this guy dead before he was able to kill anybody, you would ever hear about it?

No. I believe we need more gun laws and strict accoundability for gun owners. But somebody putting a bullet in the head of a rampage killer might sway my opinion.

Like what? Drugs kill people and are illegal but people still get a hold of them.

you have no idea how many gun laws are currently on the books now, do you?

why go after legal gun owners? why go after guns period? until it is picked up by someone with malice and intent, a gun is a mechanical device incapable of acting on it's own.

and there are plenty of armed citizen stories, check out Cam Edwards' NRA radio show.

I can understand some business owners having a firearm - especially a convenience store or pawn shop in a high-crime area. I don't consider those places random targets. The exact reason I never frequent those establishments.

I'm wondering about these rampage killers we hear about every week it seems - running around schools, churches, and malls. How come none of them run into a legal gun tote-in' hombre with an itchy trigger finger?

ehhh? You're telling me that is someone had a carry license and popped off that guy he'd go to jail?

Vigilantism is against the law, right?

If not you can count on me!

I was told by an officer at my neighborhood watch meeting if I saw someone breaking the law the only thing I'm allowed to do is call the police or try to chase them off.

who the hell carries a gun at school, in church, or at the mall? at school is a great way to get fired or expelled.

1) They are not allowed on school grounds. 2) I doubt many people come packing to church. Sadly, they might start having to.

Not sure about the mall but a person with a permit can't carry at a school or church. So again IE blame the lawmakers.

probably because legal gun owners and holders of CCWP's don't have "itchy trigger fingers" and municipal gun laws prohibit carrying firearms on many school grounds, church's and commercial properties.

you see, legal gun owners respect the law, even when they don't agree with it.

We've debated the gun rights issue before. I wasn't intending to rehash that debate. I was only stating my stand for another poster.

I was only posting this to question why these random rampage killers never get killed - they alway puss out and commit suicide.

you may not have intended a rehash of gun rights, but you opened things up with a stupid assertion that we need more gun laws and more accountability for LEGAL gun owners.

The answer is random killers who get killed don't get to go on a "spree." Just like a broken egg never becomes a chicken.
