Gun control debate (merged)

I would agree that it's mostly the people most everywhere and in every situation.
I agree it’s a people problem.

Changing the implement used only moves the next attack up or down the lethality continuum.

An attack helicopter is more lethal than a rifle.
A head splitter machete is less lethal than a rifle.

You can kill a lot of people with all three though.

I'm all for moving the next attack down the lethality continuum.

I would much prefer to get hit with a water balloon than a min nuke.

Exactly.

And there will always be a “most lethal” implement available.

Here, it is the assault weapon
There, it is the big bad machete

Exactly. And there will always be people wanting to use the most lethal implement easily available.
So I guess we are agreeing. The less lethal the available weapon the better.

We finally can agree that is your position.

And if all the assault weapons were gone tomorrow?

The attacks would not cease. A new implement will simply be picked up.

A shotgun, for arguments sake?

Finally?? That's been my stated position since day one.
There will always be evil. There will always be murder. There will always be those intent on inflicting as much pain and suffering on others as possible. I guess that is something else we can agree on.

Yes from the beginning you’ve been a coward willing to sell your freedom for the governments promised safety. Your cowardice insures that anyone who follows your plan will have neither freedom or safety.

From day one you've been a simpleton.
An idiot who is aware that he is an idiot is much more palatable than an idiot who is completely unaware of his idiocy.

And you have the coward thing backwards.

I had never seen you phrase it quite like this. I could have missed it.

The less lethal the available weapon the better.

So if the assault weapon is the “most lethal weapon available” today - and we get rid of them?

Then the most lethal legally and easily available weapon will be less lethal.

There are many rational and reasonable rules and restrictions that can be implemented without infringing on ones right to keep and bear arms, seeing as how a well regulated militia is admittedly necessary.

Yes, you would have presumably moved down the lethality continuum.

And we would have a new “most lethal” weapon available. Presumably a shotgun.

And your position says what about the shotgun?

I think shotguns are great for hunting, trap and skeet, home protection.

No, he nailed you.
Just like in Germany where I lost a large chunk of my family, there will always be loothers. Cowards that hope the government will always be good to them and take care of them.
Can you think of a more “white privileged” thought process than his. He doesn’t need to defend himself. The government will take care of him.

It’s funny that these same people are in the threads about shithole city’s claiming they’re not dangerous. Huffnpuff said anyone who would not ride the subways in NewYork was a pussy. I won’t ride them now. You let me carry like I do in Chattanooga and I’ll have no problem riding them.

I actually pity you a bit.
My daughter rides the subway alone every day, and I've ridden it a number of times over the past year.
I can't even comprehend a person being so fearful and paranoid that they would not ride the NY subway. Mind blowing.
My other daughter owns a house in Atlanta. Walks lots of places, uses MARTA.
You guys quiver in fear while calling others cowards.

I won't even step foot in any of these American cities anymore. No reason to do so. There is nothing there for me.

Good for them? I just don't want to ride on devices that smell like stale urine.

I hardly step foot in Nashville anymore, it's not because of crime or anything other than I don't like crowds. Been to NYC numerous times and for the life of me I can't understand why anyone would want to live there.

Sure it happened to 2 schools in our district just a couple of years ago. Reports of a guy dressed in camo walking behind the schools carrying a rifle led to a lockdown. He later claimed he was simply going hunting.
probably was, and you gun nuts have everyone so fearful it lead to a lock down when it shouldn't have even been commented on.
