Gun control debate (merged)

I fall in the category of guns are killing a lot of innocent people, and this is a problem that must be addressed. You fall in the category of "I don't care so long as I can play sheriff-wannabe."
Guns also deter a lot of crime.

From a previous post:
I thought about the numbers shared from the Real Clear Investigations article a bit more last night. And now that Sugar posted the news bias chart showing RCI has a middle of the road approach, I want to share.

At 2 million defensive gun uses per year, there are slightly less than 5,500 DGUs every day. At 95% of DGUs consisting of simply showing the weapon to the other person(s), there are about 5,200 of those events on average every day.

My thought: If 1% of those moments where DGUs are currently used were to change where the attacker killed the person, 54 people would die everyday. That is almost 20,000 people per year.

Makes complete sense. When that idiot was running his mouth continually on local news I figured he was FOS. Oddly I’ve heard no retraction on any local network 🤔

I missed it, I pegged him as a moron and not a liar.

Where do they find these people? How does someone so stupid get a military and a police commission because the guy is either ignorant or the shooter was in possession of an illegal weapon. My guess is the guy is a moron.

Former Army officer and witness to Texas mall shooting who calls himself a 'gun lover' says mental health isn't the problem: 'We need more gun control'

Just the way Georgie and Tommy J drew it up. Every other civilized country just drools over this "freedom" America enjoys.

Omg look at that man standing there doing absolutely nothing illegal at all . The audacity of Americans using their god given rights instead of all the sheeple in other civilized countries like Canada begging their government not to take away anything else they thought they had a right to . You’d make a good little Canadian sheeple .

So, I assume you're also cool with a drag queen standing at a school bus stop saying "Free Candy if you let me read you a story!" You know, just using a god given right to free speech.

I don’t care . Teach your kids to stay away from freaks like we use to and they will . Stop normalizing a mental illness.

I would tell my children to stay away from both of them. While I support the right to open carry I think people like this guy are ass hats

You do see the difference right? I mean I KNOW you wont admit it.

I would bet most of us would have a problem with ANYONE standing at a bus stop offering kids free candy to go do something with them. Doesnt matter if they are in drag or carrying an AR-15.

The fact that you have to rely on conflating to different actions, giving candy vs standing there, says how bad your argument is.

If you wanted an actual comparison you would have just said there was someone in drag standing at the bus stop like this guy.

Notice that I pointed to nothing other than speech. An offer to give you candy if you let me read you a book is still speech. You literally have more of an issue with someone OFFERING TO GIVE CANDY than needlessly brandishing a weapon capable mass slaughtering kids in seconds. This is why America is so effed up at this point - we're scared of someone different than us showing kindness, but we celebrate someone posturing that he's willing to smoke 10 people in 10 seconds with his small wang compensating machine.

Can you imagine how mortified the kids are at school when they see the SRO carrying a firearm?

You’re luring kids with candy.
Is he luring kids with a rifle?

The act of standing there is equal. Drag or ar-15.

The act of giving candy away is still not what you said.

The problem is giving candy away to kids in order for the adult to get to do something with the kid. That's a different level of engagement.

I would be just as bothered about the trans person giving candy to kids to read a story as I would be with the armed man giving kids candy to read them a story. But armed man just standing there is far less of a situation than giving out candy for storytime.

Picture is not the best but I wouldnt call that brandishing a weapon. He is holding it. Barrel is down. Cant tell if finger is on/off the trigger, but given the posture and other gun discipline displayed I would imagine he doesnt have a finger on the trigger. If he is literally just standing there, not in the way, not talking with anyone, then he is doing no wrong.

You just have an irrational fear of something you dont understand and you rely on blatant lies and mischaracterizations to make your point.

I would even say it would be justified to be worries about the Ar-15 guy if he was marching up and down, yelling stuff, clearly angry. Dude is literally just standing there.
