What is a "gun nut"?
Among the common symptoms would be making statements like:
"When they pry them from my cold dead hands."
"What do you not understand about the words 'shall not be infringed'".
"Then amend the constitution."
"They wont stop until they take away all guns."
"We're all that stands between the government and......"

If you've made one or more of those comment, you might just be a gun nut.

So anyone you disagree with about guns. seems rational and reasonable.

Not at all. I have absolutely nothing against someone owning a gun.
Know plenty of gun owners who would never make such nonsensical comments.

Probably only about 15% of gun owners are gun nuts.

So, the Founding Fathers.

No. They would be so saddened to see where their choice of words has lead.
I really wonder how you can think that.

They knew taking up arms could lead to them losing everything, being wounded, dead, or something worse. they knew the armed conflict could destroy their state, they lived through it. They saw their weapons as key to overthrowing a tyrannical government. Even when Washington faced armed Revolutions they did nothing to restrict arms.

plenty of people died back then due to shootings. didn't change their language in the 2A. they knew of multishot/semi-auto/auto weapons.

they knew the dangers and potentials of citizens owning weapons, and it did not dissuade them.
