Gun control debate (merged)

A ridiculous comment--but typical of the political right.

More guns don't equal more gun violence? Really? We have far more guns than any other nation---and far, far, far, far more gun violence.

I especially laugh at the chestnut that all guns owners are "responsible." No, they are not. First, a lot of gun owners are paranoid--or else
why buy a gun in the first place? For fun? If guns are your big hobby, you ought to broaden your life. Many gun owners have personal/family
problems of one kind or another--as do many if not most Americans. And small problems can become big problems. This notion that because
someone is supposedly "responsible" today that he'll be responsible and stable in a week, month, two years...is nonsense. The Las Vegas
shooter would have been deemed "responsible" by the gun crowd a day before he opened fire with his arsenal on a concert crowd. There are
COUNTLESS unstable people in this country, which is precisely why Republicans have seriously endangered the American public with
their grotesque indifference to gun violence.

How about the Louisville mass shooter of yesterday? He had a graduate degree and worked for a bank. He was getting sacked and flipped his lid.
You think this sort of thing is an outlier? Happens every freakin' day--and yet conservatives/Republicans ignore this.

"He graduated from the University of Alabama in December 2020 with a bachelors and masters degree in finance, according to a spokesperson for the university. A former high school classmate who knew him and his family well said he never saw any “sort of red flag or signal that this could ever happen.”
“He was a really good kid who came from a really good family,” said the classmate, who asked not to be identified and has not spoken with Sturgeon in recent years. “I can’t even say how much this doesn’t make sense. I can’t believe it.” (Must be the Alabama connection--yes!)

What is the total now 5 out of the last six (not including the ones that were stopped beforehand) were trans? Just a few short years ago gender dysphoria was considered a mental illness as it should be. You can't change facts just because of the "feels". Did you ever ponder the drugs these mentally ill people take could result in this sick, deranged behavior? Wouldn't it be nice to see a study of what these people had in their bodies? We'll never see that because you left wing militants don't want us to see it. The reason, because it displays how sick your agenda is.

Yes, we have more guns than any other country by a long shot. No we don’t have more gun violence than any other country. We are actually below the world average for homicide for example.

If guns lead to more violence how do you explain the massive decreases in violent crime from 1990-2019 despite far more guns in this country?

Obviously these events (non gang related mass shootings) are outliers. If they actually occurred daily, the media would talk about them daily.

Stop! They don't like it when you paint them into a corner. They're liable to, who knows what they're liable to do? They're an unhinged group.

Wtf goes to.the library?
Here, the homeless people.. it’s where they camp out now.. you are right though, you can access just about anything to read online now, order books and audiobooks from Amazon, download books to your tablet etc.. it’s a shame, I used to enjoy going to the library, personally.. but I don’t think they are being utilized like they used to be

Missouri isn’t a country. Nor do I think libraries should be funded at the state level. It’s not a matter of “can’t afford”.

So once again, the tweet made zero sense
It's evidently in their state constitution. This is a punitive measure since there is a lawsuit

Exactly. The only reason you hear about them is because they are very popular and they look scary, so when one is (occasionally) used, they become labeled as something they, quite simply, are not.
they get dramatically oversampled in the media, so the public thinks they are a bigger problem than they are.

They are not only the red car, they are the red sports car.
except no they are not. They are the red pick up truck from Cars. that is probably a bit harsh and triggering to the AR15 ladies here. They are the red 6 cylinder Mustang on a drag racing strip next to a Funny Car Dragster. Functionally they are no different than any other street legal car.

AR15s are no where close to the sports car of the gun world. You THINK they are, because that is what you are told, and you keep yourself admittedly ignorant.

So is Bill Lee going to include Trans in his red flag law? I mean that would have stopped many of these shootings?
I understand your point.

We’ve been joking about LG’s filing red flags on their neighbors for anything and everything.

But seriously - who thinks the Trans community will be targeted with red flags? I won’t be surprised if there is an avalanche of red flags filed against those “weird trans dudes” from coast to coast.

I went all the time as a kid and we still take ours in the summer.
There was a little sarcasm in there. My wife goes. I asked why the heck did I buy you that tablet? She said she likes to hold a book from time to time. I'll never understand that but I'm not much of a reader. Maybe a little attention deficit disorder. I can't get through a page before my mind wonders and I can't recall what I just read. I lived in the library while in college (pre internet). Spent way more money than I should have on copies of books/periodicals for papers. Don't forget the old microfiche. I do think libraries will be a dodo bird in the not so distant future.

Why are red sports cars so accident prone?

The AR platform is one of the smoothest, easiest, most stable platforms on the market - hence its ubiquitousness.

When I hear Red Corvette, I immediately think “ah, that sounds stable and easy”….

“Yeah, there’s a guy in my neighborhood who dresses like an anime character and I’ve got some concerns”

People who think the AR is the sports car of the gun world have never watched John Wick.

And I can only assume that our current “blind justice” legal system will be tasked with enforcement of all these new rules, regulations, and red flags that are being proposed?

Get ready Black America. You’re about to get effed by the “long arm” of the law, again.

Cause, we have to do something.

Yep. All gun laws are disproportionately felt by black Americans

IDK. In the current atmosphere, those laws may well just be ignored with regards to the 13%.

What type of crimes are AR15s most commonly used in?
We can take that approach if it's easier for you.
what a backwards way of looking at anything.

what's the worst thing you can do with this thing? That's what we judge it on. Not what it is actually used for 99.9999998% of the time. Not what is the best thing it can do. No you just want to ignore the rest of it and focus on the one rarely occurring thing.

What is the legal sports car of the gun world?
