Gun control debate (merged)

All of those and more.
It's not so much about stopping these school shootings. The school shootings just turn the spotlight back on.

Everyone knows there is nothing in this world that will stop crazed people intent on murdering innocents form doing so.
Nothing - never has been - never will be.

I do support the concept that a crazed person intent on inflicting as much death and destruction as (easily) possible, has his/her job made easier due to our insane gun culture.

But again, the focus can't be on school shootings, the focus must be on all of the societal negatives made much worse because of our crazed gun culture.
bombs....
that would allow them to get away easier, or at least not be on the scene.

Guns are used because they are target of the media. these people want their 15 minutes, using a gun gets them that.

so have we, and you have rejected them. that's the problem. You want your admittedly ignorant ideas implemented, and aren't willing to listen to the people who can at least define the terms you are looking for. Your ideas aren't working. you just keep doubling down on them. you think the specifics of one case apply to every case, ignoring every single time when they don't. like expanded back ground checks, or a gun purchase delay wouldn't have stopped this attack. while our measures on mental health medication probably would have.

the issue is you completely ignore the base issue. the people. you focus on the inanimate object because you just want to do something; and instead of admitting your ideas for people doesn't work, you focus on the gun because that ignores your blind spots.
All he ever wants to discuss is how to make the next attack “less lethal”.

Never a moments breath devoted to how to make the attack “less likely”.

It’s disgusting.

Then you haven't been looking very hard.
Just in the last couple of days I have posted mental health stats multiple times.
what do the stats have to do with a proposal to similarly restrict them as you would guns?

you will see how "rational and reasonable" your restrictions are when you start applying them to people who are a huge danger to others.

Don't allow them in schools.
don't allow them in government buildings.
allow businesses to ban their presence.
require a permit for them to be in public.
dont allow more than 5 in public at a time.
have them restricted by a federal agency lead by individuals who actively want to get rid of them.

I keep saying it, until you are comfortable applying your restrictions to ALL rights, its not rational or reasonable. like being 18, I have no problem (others might), with gun purchases being restricted to 18. heck you want to raise the age of maturity to 21 so that no one can get a gun until then I am fine with that if you apply it to voting, to go with alcohol purchases.

An AR in bad hands killed a lot of people,
An AR in good hands......hold on.......ok, never mind.

Maybe it is about the gun, folks.
killed the bad guy before he got a second shot off?
8 Times Law-Abiding Citizens Saved Lives With an AR-15
if it saves one life its worth it, right?

heck we have a pretty politicized case of a minor defending himself with an AR from a violent felon, a pedophile, and someone pointing a pistol at him.

An AR in bad hands killed a lot of people,
All in Gun Free Zones.

An AR in good hands......hold on.......ok, never mind.
Law abiding citizen follows the law and doesn't have his AR or other gun in a gun free zone where a bad person with a gun can feel safe knowing a good armed citizen can not stop him from doing bad things.

Everything that's in North Carolina's new gun law | wfmynews2.com

Victory for the good guys and 2a over here in NC...had to override a Dimwit governors veto by super majority to get it passed though.

Now only 9 states require pistol permits. 8 in the lower 48 plus Hawaii.

BREAKING: Tricia Cotham, a North Carolina Democrat, is switching ..... her party affiliation to Republican, handing Republicans a legislative supermajority and the votes to override Democrat Governor Roy Cooper.

These idiots will probably do it. Even holding the vote is stupid IMO, be better than the children.
I agree but I'm not sure acting like adults is really paying dividends at this point.

I remember acting like a child in front of my children to show them what they looked like had an impact, especially in front of their friends. 🤣

Ok, We need to just ban all guns. These guns are just jumping up all by themselves and committing crimes. It must be the fault of the inanimate objects. We should pass laws against all guns. I'm sure criminals will obey those laws. That will really help. Remember, the second amendment was there to protect citizens from government tyranny. We don't have anything close to shady going on in our government. Selective prosecutions; recent evidence released of the CIA taking out a President; expanded IRS; politicians taking money from China, why on earth would anyone want to question our pristine government. Sorry, government daddy for those on the left.
