Gun control debate (merged)

Over 80% of Americans (according to multiple polls by multiple companies) feel that first trimester abortions are permissible, especially in cases of rape or incest. Our Party Lordship system combined with gerrymandered political representation dampens their voice and gives extra representation to a very vocal and restrictive minority.
Oh well then a constitutional amendment should be no problem
and calling bull **** on your pole numbers…maybe we should just let each state decide what is right for its people.

You're right to call ********; the latest Pew poll is 59% for total access / 39% against total access. I'll amend my post above.

And seeing as how we're the "land of the free," how about the states butt out and let the individual decide what's right for the individual?

That’s because Americans a republic and not a mob run democracy.

So what are the poll numbers in TN? Your poll numbers for the entire country can easily be skewed by states like California and NY.

Having a lack of national continuity for something so medically significant is one of the dumbest things I’ve heard in a long time.

It should be 100% for whatever the individual wants in consultation with a licensed medical professional. It's not like we have roving abortion vans pulling pregnant women out of their houses and forcing procedures on them.

The one thing I have never been able to get an answer about from a gun control advocate is simply this. Under what moral or legal principle is it okay to deprive me of my rights and property in response to an illegal action by someone else? Am I imprisoned if my neighbor robs a bank? If someone in the next town gets a DUI, do I have my drivers license revoked? It is the same principle. You do not get to punish me for the actions of another. It is a violation of my basic human rights and my specified constitutional right to due process.
You have your bags searched and go through an x-ray in order to ride a plane.....because of the illegal actions of others.
You can only carry a clear bay and must go through a metal detector when attending a sporting event because of the illegal activities of others.

Do you think the response decisions of LEO's are color blind?
I think people shooting at cops should be prepared for them to return fire. I think people trying to take a gun away from a cop should expect to be shot. I think anyone trying to push a different narrative should be ashamed

How many unarmed were killed in prior years and what was their race?

The state is a lot closer to the individual than the federal government.
But I’m good with returning to the Wild West style of living

Imagine being able to be married in Georgia, but you break your leg in Florida and the hospitals refuse to acknowledge your insurance coverage because they refuse to acknowledge your marriage.

You either take the financial hit or you learn to avoid Florida.

Then you should not have any issues fixing the problem for something so obvious.
follow the rules set up by the founding fathers and amend the constitution.

Exactly.
If you don’t like the laws and rules don’t go there.
The same thing can be said for any number of issues.
Imagine being in New York and you’re not allowed to carry a pistol to defend yourself and some ******* walks into the grocery store and starts shooting.

Should the state of New York be responsible for all the deaths because they failed to provide the protection they took away from those who died ?

What a crappy analogy. Abortion involves taking another life, and if the state you live in doesn't allow it, vote it out or vote with your feet and leave.

I don't believe we'll ever see another constitutional amendment. We'll have another civil war before we reach the point where we can see past our differences and take unified action to promote the general welfare.

The first step in promoting the general welfare is to respect and defend individual liberties and the second is to pass No laws that make law abiding citizens criminals.

Yet you immediately engage in behavior you speak out against.
And now you lie to yourself about it.
I guess that’s what it takes for you to get through the day.
What a sad life
The reality is that I am trying to convince you of the wrongness of your actions by putting you on the receiving end.

It's sort of the same concept as teaching your kid "you do not hit, but if someone punches you in the face first, by all means punch them back - sometimes that is the only way those types of people can learn. But remember, don't hit first, because hitting first is wrong."

We already do, except when the states infringe on constitutional rights - like when they make abortions illegal.

Perfect example of government overreacting and punishing the law abiding.
