Biathlon rifles and a skeet gun? So your contention is that guns aren’t designed to maim or kill based on biathlon and skeet, both of which were sports invented based on the idea that you’re practicing to kill something? Some stances here are weak, but that’s one of the weakest I’ve seen lol.

Lol wut? That is precisely what knives were built for. Like literally built to kill game, in every culture ever. In every material they have ever been fashioned from, from times before there were ever civilizations. And it didnt stop.

We even attach(ed) them to our guns to make the guns more deadly. I am pretty sure they are standard kit for soldiers, and I know they still get training in knife combat.

It’s only deadly if the thing you are shooting at is alive and accuracy is about the shooter not the weapon. The intended purpose of a firearm is to fire ammunition out of its barrel. Nothing more. Nothing less. Again

As a germane aside I finally got around watching Halloween Kills the other day. Big kitchen knife fan that guy.

More directly on topic is according to the (I think) latest FBI UCR statistics ('15-'19) the most murders by rifles (all inclusive, not just the type inspiring this thread) was 389 in a year. The fewest murders attributed to "knives or cutting instruments" in a year over that span was 1,476.

As for this settlement let's be clear on who exactly settled. It was the insurance companies the were on the hook for the bankrupt Remington Arms, Remington the bankrupt manufacture did not settle it was their insurance carriers that settled. Remington would have had zero say in the agreement and will not be out 1 dime. The only people who this could hurt is people with insurance policies.

That’s a result of the user not the implement. A firearm is an inanimate object and knows no intent. Most homicides I believe are blunt force or sharp object/knife as the means? Ban hammers, baseball bats, kitchen knives? Stupid as hell.

Edit: and I’m clearly late to the party and it makes me happy to see Luther getting mercilessly bludgeoned over his current dumbassery.

The majority of my firearms have never killed anything ( to my knowledge) , that being said .. the closest I’ve ever come to dying was from a butchers knife that required a 4 hour surgery and I’ve carried a 14 inch scar on my right leg from it ever since I was 20 years old . I also own Estwing hammers that have cause more bodily harm to a human than any of my firearms . Hell if we want to get down to statics , I have drop down trailer hitches that at least 100 times more dangerous than the firearms I own .

If harm to people was the actual designed intent of civilian firearms then per unit they would have to be among the most underutilized items in the country. (along with fire extinguishers, home exercise equipment and toothbrushes in AL)
