Gun control debate (merged)

So is gun ownership per capita inversely proportionate to violent crime rates per capita?
Doesnt need to be, we have a right. And I still dont carry. But I am thankful that others do.

Gun ownership has stayed fairly consistent since the early 70s. Gun ownership in the U.S. 1972-2020 | Statista

Violent crimes have gone slightly up. https://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm
*unfortunately statista didnt have the same time line in their violence study as did their gun.

I don’t need to wield a weapon to make me feel secure, though I know many of you do... and that’s fine for you. Carrying around phallic-shaped objects like a toddler carries around their teddy is totally something grown men should be doing. Lol
Project much? I carry literally everywhere ever day and have never thought much about it other than being prepared if I need to use it

They also suggested that we shouldn’t be beholden to the ideas of people who lived 250 years ago and that their ideas aren’t meant to be permanent. They said that as information and situations evolve, so should the governance... yet we still have people that cling to the laws of those same FF as unimpeachable gospel.
and that's why our law enforcement and military swear to the Constitution....you either believe in it or you don't

They didn't make their ideas permanent, they explained clearly how to change the constitution when needed. Gun grabbers are just too damn lazy to go through the proper procedures.

good point but I saw the National Guard gas their fellow Americans so the last president could have a photo shoot. (with an upside down Bible).

so you can never be too sure

That should make you think about what side they would come down on should it ever get there.

What cred you may have been building (honest discussion) flew out the window when you tried to make it about phallus shapes and teddy bears. (Toddlers carry tb's in IWB holsters? Who knew?)

I've always found it interesting how oblivious to their own argument these types of assertions are when reflected. You're basically positively asserting:

1. It can't happen to me. No worries as this is one of the most commonly held fallacies among people in general. (This is in no way limited to possible violent attack of course, optimism bias is just a thing.
OR
2. If something bad does happen the person obviously considers themselves such a badass that potential need for a weapon is superfluous. You know, "I don't need a weapon, if there's three of them I'll Bruce Lee the first guy, Jason Statham the second and then decide if I want to Chuck Norris or Steven Segal the last one. Of course, it's just as likely after the first guy goes down the other two will obviously flee in terror from the sheer awesomeness I exude. Oh, and there's no way I could ever be confronted by anyone else with weapons."

These are both delusions far greater than someone realizing bad things do happen to good people and that they aren't arrogant/deluded enough to assume their badassery will be sufficient for such bad things.

they are trying to limit handguns? If that's true they sure as heck aren't doing a good job of it
Weapons of war and all that. The incredibly vague, and often wrong/bad, language they use when talking about gun control opens up darn near anything to be on the list.

I’m not talking about rights, what needs to happen or what doesn’t.

I simply asked a question. Does violent crime increase or decrease relative to gun ownership numbers? If you prefer not to answer there is no need to respond.

Explain to the class then how a pistol differs from a weapon of war.

-no one help her-

The WoW tag attached to anything that isn't at the very least NFA regulated is espoused by exactly two kinds of people; those that have no idea what they're talking about and those that do know what they're talking about trying to make rubes of the first group for political advantage.

I think the numbers show violent crime is down and gun ownership is way up. I don't believe there is any correlation between the two.
